I think 1xPoohBear is right , this is getting deep.
consider this.
If u where a machine that was that superior, woulnt you look at man kind the same way we look at our everyday house pet.? like sometimes I can spend an hour or so just looking at my cat. I think I am fascinated by her. Sometimes the line between master and pet just appears to vanish , I have experienced this also with my friends dog,s.. However , If my cat was exactly my size and looked human, then who would be the master? and who would be the pet????

I think it all comes from some human urge to control everything... the fact that i am even using words like master, and pet proves that.

Same issue we encounter with vampires.. (and yea i mean any story you may have ever read about vampires ... vampire tales if u will.(^_^)
Suppose your food looked just like you, and talked to you, and you could be friends with it... could u even imagine.?.. after a wile you would have to eat. then what??? and if u where a kind hearted vampire woulnt you want to try and find a way to have an enjoyable meal?...and perhaps your meal could enjoy you as well???
hee hee, i think that is what i find so mesmorising about vampire stories.. .. and in all sense dont we all feed from someone in one way or another?

Anyways i dont think this is that different... An android would probably think or humm... calculate that they are better than us, and they could probably figure that out inthe first split second from being powered on for the first time. they would look at us as a bunch of flawed; but very interesting creatures. And after a wile they would probably come up with the only awnser being that they must have created us and now they have to take care of us. And i think they would; if something like that really woud'l ever come to be,, and i can only say that because math is perfect and therefore perfection is absolute is the only thing in this world that can stare at us right in our face and show us just how un-perfect we really are. lol

The capability of the human mind is limited, we can only have so much.
So instead of thinking things thorough we prefer to be non-logically opinionated, we don't do any "research" and judge from our findings pick the easy way.
Why is it a bad thing?
Don't start thinking about "why would it be bad if androids... etc etc" It would simply be bad because it is easier to call something unheard of then to look at it from different angles and try to accept a new situation.
In other words, it is only bad because we think so, and we think that way because it's easy and we'll Always find a way to get tangled up in all sort of things mentally just because we are so easily confused.
Read: fear of the unknown and uncommon and in this anime's case also the pride- complex these people have most likely developed by revelling in the advanced technology they use everyday, especially those who are being served by androids regularly.
We're just afraid to be deemed "equal" to something we created ourselves, it's the biggest compliment a creator can get but "it gets scary" if that means the next step can only be towards "better then us" ;3
We're afraid of losing our position at the top of the world even if nothing bad would come from it~

never thought that this anime was way too good... anyway, a very simple answer, androids are the reflection, intention, and desires of the maker... humans created androids so no wonder if they will inherent some emotions...

ohh... now i found an anime that talks about humanity, is it? Why do you think HUMANS CREATED ANDROIDS IN THE FIRST PLACE and create it similar like us? is it a threat to human existence? and if it REALLY becomes a threat? maybe thats why they fear androids... because it will take the place of humanity... beings cant coexist with another beings with the same intelligence... that is how human thinks, no... that is the thinking every being will do if they encounter something they don't understand or new to them... in the end, communication is vital... misunderstanding can lead to destruction... lets see how this anime will drag...

Sorry but no, if something is very easily distinguishable then it is much easier for discrimination to happen. I agree that they should not be treated as tools, but as valued members of society. I came to this conclusion because it is very easy to observe that these androids have become very sophisticated, they can easily be mistaken for human, just look at Akiko. Already this has happened.

These androids should now be treated as regular people, they obviously have the capacity for "human" feelings. The Cafe is proof of this. If they had no feelings then why a need for a common place where they can be equal? They want to be equal and not treated as second class citizens (at best, some treated as just objects). If i were in the future, I guess I would be part of the minority fighting for android rights. (Yes I know this is super dorky but whatever).

sorry for the tripple post but...
I felt really bad for Akiko, I thought I could see pain in her eyes at the end there, I sorta saw it coming though but still. I think it made it more sad because you saw how incredibly excited she was to talk to new people at the cafe, then she basically got a kick in the nuts

then if that happenes then the human DNA would be mixed with Robotic DNA, our generation in the future would be still human but with robotic cells, in other words, we fuck androids that look like us in a way!

But what i don't get was the reverse thing Rikuo said.
Humans resemble Androids...Androids resemble Humans

Wow, some of these posts are gettin deep

I think what he means is that he finally realizes that androids are deeper than he thought. Not only humans are studying androids, androids are studying humans and becoming more like them - caring for their well being and like his android, starting to know what he likes. Akiko for example said how much she'd like to learn about her 'family'. Does that make sense?

Anyway, it's a bit unsettling how they treat the androids really badly. I mean I understand how they're not human and all but how can you treat anything that way? Androids or not they still look like humans -_-

Woah. This is deep. O_O

Something I'd like to add is the current controversey about the cloning technology currently being developed. On one hand, this cloning could create an exact likeness of a person in every way, even in the finger prints and genetic makeup, so they could save lives in the medical field by allowing doctors to transfer vital organs such as the heart without the body rejecting the organ. On the other hand, some argue that these clones would be like slaves to humans, considered completely inferior, useful only for their bodies. There are many other sides of the matter I won't go into, but this seems a bit relevant to me based on the direction the forum is moving. One of the biggest fears humans have is becoming monsters, people who see other people as below them or forget their humanity in their search for power. Because of this, humans fear situations in which they might come to consider themselves the "masters" and another race or otherwise unique variety of person or life form the people who serve them, perhaps not even to be considered people at all, who are meant to serve them. When humans reach this point, they cannot see reason, cannot even open their eyes to see the similarities between themselves and those they are putting below them. In away, the inferior become alieans, tools the the masters, creatures to be used then disposed of when no longer useful. As was said in the first post and the series synopsis, they become something like household appliances. There are numerous embodyments of this fear throughout the arts ant literature of the world, the history, too. Think of the slave trade and the civil rights movement, of the Native Americans the English treated like savages.

Books on the subject:
Winter of Fire by Sherryl Jordan (spelling?? ^_^;;)
Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix (bad book, don't read it)
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly (ishness)
My Sister's Keeper by by Jodi Picoult (REALLY, REALLY GOOD. Also, a really good example of the cloning thing.)

I believe the reason why people created androids similar to humans is basically because humans have the most effective body build compared to all creatures. Think about it, no animals even with the closest build to humans (in this case, primates like monkeys or chimpanzees) can function the same way human do. In that sense, it's only practical to create the androids the similar to humans.

I think androids come from the ideas to create flawless humans. Since flaws and miscalculations often come from emotions, logically they would remove emotions. However, I don't think it's possible for humans (who has flaws) to create a flawless being.

This kind of anime or movie just want to emphasis the foolish and wishful thinking that some people have or might have. -_-
