ohhh.. maybe you're right... so that means humans are lonely for years? i mean we cant communicate with nature, the world.. perhaps they create it out of loneliness?

oh well this anime is just one episode yet... and i think the anime's main idea are the discrimination between human and androids, i guess the reason why they creat androids are out of the question. but i hope they include it :D

hey we are entering a state of deep thinking... i cant keep up.. lol. but its really interesting! im learning from your posts. please use simple English words kay? this is more interesting than going to school or dating! hohoho XD

This is just anime I thought it would be fine to sit down and enjoy the plot~ Yeah, its troublesome if androids yearn to be like human but it doesn't appear in real world so its not much of a big deal-.-

the concept of andorids/futuristic robots makes for a great anime and forum discussion, but I think the idea of it actually happening is too idealistic.
Creating a robot is one thing, but creating a human being is a totally different matter. I think a lot of times, the world likes to oversimplify the definition of humanity (if you can even define humanity).
The capacity to love, hate, become self-concious/self-aware, have morality and ethics, etc is something I can never imagine humans creating when technology is at a level of giggling furbies. Even if you one day have the technology like this anime implies, then all you can get at best is an imitation and nothing more. There will always be an element missing with the androids in my opinion.
So when the statement came out, "humans like androids, androids like humans" I thought it was like comparing apples and oranges.

however, i would just like to say that i haven't seen such great animation in a very long time. Kudos to the animators!

I think there may be a need to distinguish androids from humans as the androids physically look like any other human n it's also for security reasons as u nvr noe some androids may b posing as some other human n commiting crimes n all that stuff etc...

As for the androids trying to be more n more humanly like is rather like, for example, humans r always being curious abt their surroundings n other beings so androids r the same. They must always b wondering abt humans n what humans r really like, as humans n androids r basically the same, physically outside I mean.

Besides, if androids were to be able have emotions and to think as we r as humans, there won't be any need for humans anymore. Androids r far more advance than humans in terms of physical. They r almost practically immortal, immune to any diseases, super strength etc.

And if androids were to become human, there would be seriously war between androids n humans as humans will most probably panick n fight for supremacy etc.

Sheesh...no matter how androids became more like human beings, they would always lack something we had. The greatest problem with the whole robots take over the world thing is that the human mind is far too complex to be easily replicated with a machine. I've taken programming classes and it's hard enough just trying to tell a computer what you want it to do. Computers and such are thought to be smart, but without human beings, computers can't "evolve." They can only mimic us and learn from us. There's a reason they are called AI's. Their intelligence is artificial. Robots could only have emotions in theory. They could make faces and say that they feel this way or that way, they could even react to our actions with "emotions". But one fact remains: they will only "feel" that way and act that way because we program the too. They can't "feel" or act independently of what they are programmed to do. Thus, they can never really "feel" anything. You could program a computer to say "I love you" no matter what you do, does that mean it really loves you? Sadly all computers and robots we make have one tragic flaw (don't try this out): magnets. If a magnet gets too close to a computer or robot, it messes up their saved data (hard drive) and their CPU (Central Processing Unit). Basically, all "long term memory" is erased and the "short term memory" processor gets screwed up. (So seriously don't try it, your computer might be permanently damaged beyond repair). So yeah, it would be hard for an AI to even get an urge to conquer the world and a few magnets would screw them over even if they did.

as an A.I programmer and an cyberpunk fan...
I would say as much as I would wish there to be androids developing their own personality and characteristics, it is only possible when we as human beings begin to understand how exactly our brain works. I mean there is no other way to make a program seem intelligent other than using statistical methods and the whole neural net understanding so far. Understanding the human mind completely is far from done.

then if that happenes then the human DNA would be mixed with Robotic DNA, our generation in the future would be still human but with robotic cells, in other words, we fuck androids that look like us in a way!

man... the way you put it is kinda disturbing...
but i kinda got your point of how there would be an increasing "interaction" between man and machine

You know, I think this show will be viewed differenly by Japanese and Western audiences. In Japan, some believe that just about anything can have a soul, including robots. But in the West, we don't think that way. I think it's harder for Western audiences to understand this kind of story because without a soul, a computer can only function under its programming. Some don't believe in a soul, anyway, but if that's the case, man was programmed by nature. Computers programmed by us, so we control them. And they can't know anything that man doesn't already know. They don't mutate and evolve the way real creatures do. This is why I think this kind of story is really only possible from the Japanese perspective.

Of course, it's easy to ignore the limitations imposed by Western thought. We do have these kinds of stories ourselves.

who knows? the future is a blur thing to be predicted.

every material has its weakness and it would depend on the material itself. but considering that things in the future are designed to work on a changing environment. it wouldn't be a fatal flaw afterall.

i like the way the story is progressing. lets just say the human finally created a android that thinks like a human being would you want to live side by side with a android that acts like a human?

me i wouldn't i mean if you think carefully even if you create laws for them they will break it cause us human break them so why not them if they think like us.

androids having human emotion is hard to imagine, one reason is because individuality takes a long time to develop and the idea that robots can gain some with in one year is sorta unrealistic...

Still this is a very nice anime and it has a warm sort of side to the story... it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy^^
