i don't think you can generalize black culture. there's the urban black culture, the southern black culture, tha african black culture (and that branches out into so many subcultures). as for black people living in japan, i have wondered about this since i want to go there so badly. i do understand that most japanese haven't seen a black person in real life and have probably learned about black people mostly from the media, so i'll have to get used to the comments and curiosity

What people fail to understand is Japan isn't like the states where most major cities are made up of a mish-mash of cultures and races. Its basically nothing BUT Japanese people living in Japan.

And yes, Japanese people do see lots of foreigners, but thats mostly in the big cities like Tokyo, Yokohama, etc. In the more rural areas, its not as such.

uhhmm ... many japanese people do see a black people in real life.. don't underestimate japan.. many foreigners live in japan.

Question to all these people who keep saying crap like "I don't get the point":

Do you have a problem with black people or are you just feeling threatened that your Asian culture is being threatened by "African-American culture" or something?

I know black guys that are just in love with Japanese women, they even enjoy watching Japanese and Korean drama, even anime (not so much manga, well, most guys are lazy to read, but that's aside the point), and even trying to learn Japanese, and I think that's great. I myelf am not Japanese, but as long as I see/know someone has interest in Asian culture and lifestyle, I totally support his/her ideas. That is how diversity takes place.
I used to live in Vietnam for over 10 years (in the city too) and I barely saw any black person, not that I'm being ignorant, but seeing a black person living in an Asian country is still something new to most people in Asia.
