Is the burka/ hijab restrictive to Muslim women or is wearing it beautiful by showing devotion to Islam? Your opinions?

im not really a fan of imposing my culture or values onto others' cultures and values..but then thats what judging is. personally..its the islamic way. if its good to them, then why not. if they truly believed that it is wrong, someone would stand up to it and blood will be shed. same with the slavery in US. someone stood up. and eventually change occured. im under the belief that if people want something, then they'll do what is necessary to get it.

k im done lecturing.

It's a case by case scenario.

Oppression: When taken to the extreme and EVERY part of them must be covered or ELSE. In these cases, the woman also must be accompanied by a man when going out of the house.

Devotion: When a woman, who follows Islam, chooses to wear it. Which is usually just around their head and body, which allows their face to be seen.

It's all about choice.

It's totally about choice. There are many Muslim women who don't wear the hijab and that's fine. It's not fine when the women do wear the hijab and they're constantly asked if they wear it by choice or if they're forced to wear it. Why do western cultures always assume that if a woman wears the hijab it's because she's forced to?
Anyways, it's always obvious when a woman is being forced to wear the hijab because she'll be wearing skimpy clothing along with it, making the whole point of wearing the hijab redundant.

Hijab is not forceable , but i know it is a must for a muslim women to wear, first from islamic bilief womens must wear it to cover her body andface , it really give her that distinct personality , from science women who don't wear hijab they are easily infected with deases and losing more hair cause when you have something hidden you will care for it more than when you are showing it .........

Oh Eros, you always know exactly how far to lower the intelligence bar.

I can't add anything more than that it should be be a choice and not a requirement or expectation.

beauty must not be forced upon. If muslim women choose to wear for reasons than it is beauty. if they are forced to wear it it is opression. I say tis opression because all of them wear it. I dont think EVERYONE thinks alike and not everyone has the same tastes, so we can conclude that muslim women are subjected to wear it by their dogma.

Purpose: Neither oppression nor beauty!

It symbolizes modesty, decency, honour, purity and chastity!

Well the way I have understood my religion Islam, with examples from authentic sources such as the Qur'an and the Hadith (Prophetic traditions), is that hijab is an obligation upon every believing (Muslim) woman. However we all certainly are given the choice to obey or disobey the Divine laws. Religion is not to be forced upon as it has everything to do with FAITH and SINCERITY. Nothing can be achieved by force ^.~

Happy Hijabi

i don't wear it but i respect those who do .
I mean would u rather a man see u for ur heart or for ur appearance?
++ back in the day women of higher status wore coverings and hid their bodies while the lower class women let their hair out.
