Pfft, if anyone listens to their parents when they're complaining about your partner, you need shooting. Tell them to shut the fuck up and say "this is MY black/white/Asian/Hispanic bitch, so hands off motherfucker.

Im in the same boat as you.

My parents are very traditional Chinese, They want me marry someone that is Chinese mandarin speaker. Since my older sister married a white guy they are like, son you are the last hope for us to have a Chinese baby.... I have gotten in to many fights with them but honestly im in a position where i don't know what to do.. They told me that they will find me a wife if i wanted.... Lol this is one of those things where I have alot of respect for my parents and also at the same time i want to be my self... so im stuck in between a rock and a hard place. I'm not too worried about it since i told them I don't think I will ever get married :)

lol thats sad man thats reel sad cuz u gona hav alot of trouble dating and stuff and im guessing that ull never date until u can find a chinese girlfriend thats realy suky for u and for me its the same thing i got respect for them but i want my own life so im stuk in the same place as u

Yes. Skin color shouldn't matter when love is involved and if they do care about the color of someones skin they are just going to have to deal with it.

What would I do if one of my parents was a racist?

Well, assuming I was still a teen living at home, I'd treat them like dirt until the day I moved out. Then I'd never write, or call. Assuming I was deeply in love with the person and my racist parent actually managed to put an end to it... Hmmmm... I'd go psycho... I'd pretend it didn't bother me until the day I got a chance to kick them over a railing, or down a flight of cement stairs.

The world doesn't need racists...

How would you define racists and being traditional?

When I was growing up my mom would always go "Hurry up and lock your door" when a black guy walks by our car..... LOL

I know that my mom disapprove of me dating non-chinese but for some reason I am attracted to non-asians.I used to consider her feelings.Later I realized that I am the one who is dating that person not her.If she don't like, then too bad because I have my own life.So what do you guys think?

It's exactly how I feel too. I'm mainly attracted to caucasian girls.

In the end, I'm going to be walking in my own shoes. There is no space for other people's ideals in the world that I need to live in.

Yes. it doesn't matter if ur parents or anyone for that matter don't like ur partner b/c he/she is not of the same race,or any other reason. they don't have 2 b w/ them, u do! if u love/like them. & they treat u rite and makes u happy, who gives a damn about how anybody else feels about YOUR relationship. at the end of the day its all about what u want.

In many cultures that way of thinking is considered "selfish" and "inconsiderate," unfortunately.

I honestly think we need more interacial couples in this world, if we are trying to overcome racism but then again there is this thing called tradition that a lot of people still believe in. It's pretty natural for your parents to want you to marry into your race and not because they are racist or anything but that's just how their thinking is. I am not asian but if the opportunity brought itself up where I liked an asian guy and they liked me, I would date them , whether or not my parents approved. As for me, my parents opinion does mean something to me but I think there comes a point in your life where you have to make your own choices and your parents will have to accept them, as they are.
