The manga became so popular that two live TV series have been made so far in 1996 and 2005, with a sequel of the 2005 drama set to be aired in late 2007. Despite its success, the manga was never completed due to the unexpected death of the author in a house accident while she was moving to another house with her husband and son. I have been noticing many people thinking, actually more like 'complaining' that this anime Itazura na Kiss copied the TW drama It Started With a Kiss or ISWAK. Actually it was the other way around.

ISWAK based its story line on the manga Itazura Na Kiss, and now they made this manga an anime.

ISWAK's plot is very close, if not the same as the manga's plot with a few variations. This anime did not copy ISWAK, but ISWAK copied it.

This goes to the Jdrama 'Itazura na Kiss' as well, although this live action was very different to the manga, loosely staying true to the manga.

And now my opinion.

I am sick and tired of people saying this anime is the same as ISWAK.

quotes from users thinking so.
'omg wtf, this is exactly the same as ISWAK!'
'wtf, this copied ISWAK!'
'omg, i know ISWAK was good but they didnt need to copy it!

Get your facts right before saying that kind of crap, do some research or something because the manga was written 10 years before ISWAK was made.

It pisses me off seeing people say that stuff. I dont care if your avid fans of ISWAK, but keep in mind that ISWAK based its story of the manga which was turned into an anime this year.

Any questions or opinions?

same goes with hana yori dango and Hanakimi =_= people are so simple minded nowadays

you're so so so so right, and that ISWAK fans are usually brainless..that's why they will watch the stupid taiwanese drama and the female character is so ugly.THANKS FOR Posting this!!!*watch out for ISWAK fans* XD

hey, hey, hey
HOLD ON!
as much as i agree with u about the copyiong thing, but i do not fully agree with sum of ur points.
firstly, the drama itself is not stupid(cos if it was and the anime was practically the same, then u are just bagging the anime as well)
and my other point is dis: if u hate the fans, then dun hate on the actress. she is definitely NOT ugly. besides, who told u to look and judge ppl by looks? i dun think we are watching beauty pagaents are we?
and lastly, no, not all ISWAK fans are brainless. u do not know how much fans there are so u should not classify every ISWAK fan, brainless.

not to cause a fight, but dis is just wat i think...
so NO OFFENSE!

though i enjoyed the ISWAK a lot when i watched it, still don't you think that it's still the best from where it really came from? i mean in japan, ayt. duh, i bet those who are sayin stuffs like that, are just... *just fill in the proper words, phrases for those kind.* and an anime lover should really appreciate something way differently. DUH. thanks for posting this. this is irritating. and COPY?? mind you people. commenting first before looking, bunch of fugly stuffs to say. copy. this what happens when taiwan first makes something out of the manga from JAPAN! *blood in 100 degrees celcius*

umm i dunt mean to get on ur bad side nor am i siding with any side, and i may sound a bit technical, but the manga of this storyline came out very first, then came the drama, and finally the anime came right? so that would mean that the drama copied the MANGA and not the anime. the anime came after the drama but since manga and anime are closely related (well more related than the drama and any of those) it would mean that the anime copied the manga as well. so i say that the drama AND the anime BOTH copied the manga. -end of my case- oh and dunt hold back from yelling at me or anything o-o

not trying to fight or anything, but i agree with green_shit (nice name! XDDD) and i dunt think the main character of the drama is ugly, she's pretty o_o the drama isn't stupid either. u must be a real anime addict to say that the taiwanese drama is stupid and the anime of it (which is almost the same in every way) isn't. haha good job ^w^ (at being an anime addict o_o) but anime addicts shudn't be bashing dramas either. alot of ppl like dramas more than animes too. but personally, i like anime more than dramas, and there are only a few dramas that i love to death x]

wat are u trying to imply? hmm?
saying im brainless now, huh?
do u know me good enough to judge me?
or do u EVEN know me at all?!
wat evidence do u hv dat the majority of fans are brainless?
plus, if the taiwanese drama ISWAK is stupid, then why is it so popular?
are u trying to say that all those ppl are brainless?
how unreasonable of u.
yes its just a forum post but i suggest dat u beta change ur attitude bcoz i find sum of ur posts rather offensive.
u r just leaving bad impressions on other ppl lyk how da ISWAK fans left a bad impression on you ppl. so i suggest dat in the future, u dont classify the majority of ISWAK fans as brainless.

Well you sort of sound like your hating on ISWAK.
I'm a fan of these two shows, so don't get me wrong.
They didn't copy each other, they just got the base of the story in the manga.
So they didn't copy each other

You just couldn't stop people saying those things especially if they watch ISWAK first.
and another way around if they watch Itazura na Kiss first.

technically, she is right. everything was taken from the manga. they make anime's from the manga's all the time. the anime version just happened to come at a later time than the live action version. now, i've seen both the Japanese drama, and ISWAK. personally i enjoy ISWAK better. i am currently watching the anime. so i really cant compare it wholly to the dramas. but you people need to calm down. this post was started for the mere reason off setting the record straight. end of story. there's no need to make this more difficult and hot-headed. first came the manga, then the live action dramas, and then the anime. all are terrific. As for Ariel Lin, she has had many other roles that she has succeeded with. but she is not as ugly as some of you make her sound to be. She has her own charm, and in my opinion was very well cast for the part in ISWAK. It is not whether or not the character has the looks (or lack there of), it is whether or not the character can capture you with their personality and entice you to keep watching the show. that is the main point.
