SDF all the way. plainly because it's the very first battleship i've seen in action for the macross series. although Quarter should be given some credit for being an assault mini-battleship. versatile: yes but lacks enough punch to destroy a whole vajra fleet. if SDF were in the macross frontier universe, i'd wonder what it could do to the vajra.

at first attack maybe yes it will do a lot.but remember that the vajras are constantly evolving.SDF's super ultra big cannon will be nerfed eventually and will become a sitting duck.

in the war,it is not always good to hit the enemy every hard.sometimes you have to flee too.

there will always be fights that have to be postponed and won some other time.

as for the vajra, they won't all die unless the main entity who produces them larva is terminated.

WOW just realized I voted a while back but never voiced my opinion.

OK so Brenan, Andydono and a few others will prob give me crap for this but... I choose the Macross Quarter. =O !!!!!

Along with a few other people that posted above me I agree that I do love the agility that it has. It seems to me that it is much more effective in Mecha mode compared to the larger Macross battleships. Truthfully to me it has never made much sense why a mech that big would be needed in this universe. Only saying this since we have never seen a Macross battleship engage another mech of similar size. Dont get me wrong! The Deaduleas Maneuver is a memory I have carried since my childhood. 24 years ago if I'm not mistaken. Even use the term in everyday conversation at times. (most people just look at me funny.)

Oh boy, I know I'm prob goin to hear some flak from my hardcore Macross buddies for this.

Jeffrey Wilder: Bobby! show them why the Quarter, a 400 meter ship was given the title of Macross....No. Show them why they made a Macross of this size!

Bobby Margot: Okay, Boss. (lol )

no idea on the size?!

according to www.robotech.com ,the SDF-1's size is 1,210 meters. 3 times the quarter, and in episode 21, if the quarter was not helped by the battle frontier,it will be toasted at the vajra's super duper ultra strong main gun . imagine that scene with the SDF-1.

I couldnt help myself. I had to click. Eventhough I saw the word Robotech.

But to tell the truth it was kinda cool to find out that they have re-released the AnimEigo's remastered version of the original. And it is back out for sale!!!

Hmmm.... perhaps I might go back there sometime. That is if....I have nothing better to do.

OK here we go on a quick lesson in the history of Macross and Robotech.

We start our journey back in the early 80's. A time when anime was very scarcely seen on television in North America. Before this we had only seen the likes of things for example..... Speed Racer, Gigantor, and the Legendary, Star Blazers. (aka, Space Battleship Yamato) Then comes along a company named Harmony Gold. Like most of us they were a bunch of people who love sci-fi, and fell in love with the amazing stories that were told through art of Japanese animation. (Sound like a great bunch of people right?) After veiwing numerous animated televison show airing in Japan. They had an amazing idea to bring what they had seen and fell in love with to the rest of the world. (I would want to aswell!) So they then purchased the (much disputed about) North American rights to a few animated shows. The following are a few of them. Super Dimension Fortress Macross, The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada. The three of these shows tell truely awsome stories that Harmony Gold felt compelled that the rest of the world should know about.

Once back on U.S. soil with some of the best anime ever made, Harmony Gold had to find a way to distribute their findings with North America. It then dawned on them, what better way than to air on television?

Here is where the trouble starts. After many, many tries Harmony gold could not find anyone to air the shows they purchased. The reason was because American television companies thought that the stories were to short to air as a cartoon. "Only 36 episodes?!!!" (hmm...think one was never aired if im not mistaken. or one was made of cut bits) "There is no way that the american people would stand for such a short drama...that is a cartoon at that!" Well that is kinda some where along the lines of what they were told.

The trouble continues....So now in somewhat of a dilema what was Harmony Gold to do?

"Hmmm.... Well what if we were to take the three shows we have and edit them together and create a similar yet completely different story with Different more American sounding names?" "We will call it Robotech since that sounds very 80's Hip and Edgy!" "It will be truely amazing and never make sense and leave people confused for years!"

Well....Hmmm...Maybe that was kinda what happened?

Anyways Robotech eventually aired and became a great pop culture success that sparked many peoples intrest into anime. (at the time called Japanimation) Generations of people grew up with out ever knowing the truth of the true stories of Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada. Most still don't to this day.

Many years go by until in 1993. When Macross 2: Lovers Again made its way over to American soil thanks to U.S. Renditions. "Whats this?" Suddenly we have new robotech stuff that doesnt fit with the rest? Oh I forgot the release of Macross: Do You Remember Love in the late 80's early 90's. Still most didnt know until Manga Ent. brought over Macross Plus in 1995. One of the first truelly stunning uses of CG in anime.

Here is where it gets messy! Harmony Gold who own the U.S. rights for Super Dimension Fortress Macross start to get upset that they arent getting any part of the pie for the new Macross stuff that they feel they own all rights to. Next the legal battle starts and has gone back and forth for many years that are still continuing even now as I type this.

If you have read this until know, I apologize for dragging this on for so long. Forgive me I am drunk. =P

Oh and that is why true fans of Macross get kinda upset and or act all elitist when the word Robotech comes up. We are all kinda pissed at Harmony Gold for putting a stop on current Macross stuff coming to America.

OK think I am done now lol.
