the only problem I have with buying DVDs is that like said above the DVDs here cost from 30-40(even higher sometimes) for a single non special edition dvd(those are like 20 dollars more) box sets can cost as much as 150$ here. if they put the dvds at good prices (20-25$) then there wouldn't be a problem right now.

Agreed. The standard retail prices for anime DVD's is ridiculous. $25 for 3-4 (maybe 5) episodes? Even with special features there's no way they're worth that much. When/if I buy something, it's usually off of eBay or wait for a clearance sale from an online import anime shop. I don't have a problem paying $20-$25 for a season of 26 episodes, but not for a single DVD like the retailers seem to think is acceptable.

I download anime since the DVD release doesn't reach our place. So, the only way for me to watch anime is to download them. -_-

i wouldn't care about the price if they would jsut realease the dammed things as fast as the fan subbers do. or make them cheaper with just subs and no dubs dam that would be very nice hardcoded subs in a dvd. wow think of that.

In my experience there is no such things as banning things from the Internet. The fight against piracy (one way or another) is a lost battle with the current structure of the Internet.
I think companies as Funimation should take a different aprouch, such as devloping features that allows sites like CR to have the titles on the site for f.ex rent. Another thing would have something like Valve's Steam just with anime, manga etc. Still it won't stop piracy but in the end run it will be cheaper for both parts. Just thinking aload here and I don't know if these ideas are any good, but there you go.

*shrugs* Fansubbing has always been illegal, it's just been too tough for companies to really exterminate it. The most they can do is get You Tube to delete any fansubbed videos on there, as well as some other video sharing sites, and sue the owners/creators of the people who run websites like CR. that's the logic behind liscencing anime: If an anime company catches wind of CR, they can say "Hey, our anime's on your site. If you take it off, I won't tip off the other anime companies." Meaning fansubbing will go on, regardless of what the anime companies do. Think about it: some of the best fan subbers are techno wizes and have contacts in Japan, as well as technology that can pull material off DVDs so they can sub it and such. You've seen some of the avatars and graphics anime lovers cook up without breaking a sweat. If they can do that, what else can they do? The fansubbing industry is full of Internet masterminds.
