Well we grew up with animes so why should we abandon it just cause some of you children think when you grow up you have to grow out of it. If I have to choose between watching Death Note & Code Geass and OP or some of those shit movies that come out I'll choose my anime. I'm not even gonna begin about all those sucky series on tv or reality tv shows that just dumb you down. The only thing I follow on T.V. still is sports / news and I only rent / watch the best movies that get out. Heck anime has a lot more potential plotwise anyway so they are far more interesting. At least they don't have to spend billions to special effects and pay actors outrageous wages (20 mil $ f.e.) when they don't even disurve 1 000 $ for theire shitty performances.

Btw I know a lot of people around my age that watch anime, especially the most popular ones. It's that or play videogames. Well it's healthier then getting high and drunk each day.

People can do what they want.

It is their life.

If it isn't affecting your life in any drastic way than why do you care if people over 16 stlll watch it?

Now why don't you shut the fuck up and learn to actually post something useful :3

That's like asking why adults still play video games. There's plenty of genres of anime that appeal to all ages and all types; it's not all Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, D. Gray Man, and whatever else it is you kids are into these days (I say this, and I'm only 17...). Some of the good ones intended for more mature audiences are Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Monster, Berserk, maybe even Mushishi. And just because they're mature doesn't necessarily mean they're violent or sexual... it just usually does.

Besides, I seem to find anime more interesting because most of the Western shows I've seen don't seem to follow a plotline. They usually have a plot that spans one or two episodes, rarely ever a full season like in anime.

Anime shows targeting ppl over the age of 18 are not as lame as the ones that are not.

School = 7 hours of the day,5 days of the week (Getting to school takes 20 minutes, 20 minutes of waiting for school to start, 6 hours of school, walking home takes 20 minutes).

Sleep = 6-8 hours a day (I'm not a heavy sleeper)

Thats 13-15 hours of the day where I can't watch anime.

Since I Don't have a job yet That leaves me around 9 hours to do w/e i want in that time

and.. my school doesn't give homework... so.. yeah.

I watch for the story and cinematics. The level of good "character portrayal/development" and plot are why I watch most shows I watch and this applies to anime as well, other times some animes are just hilarious. It's like watching some tv shows like Heroes or Smallville, the Boondocks, and Avatar: The Last Airbender to me.

I'm 16 and I watch anime all the time, school's getting ready to start back up, plus I have to work after school and on the weekends, (which by the way is a total bitch, cutting into my anime time) then theres sleeping (i'm a light sleeper, only 4 or 5 hours) so that doesn't leave me alot of time.

I think the reason that I still watch anime (and probalby always will) is, it's kind of a escape from reality. No matter how bad my day was, or how much work sucked, I know that I can always go home and fall into the plot of a good anime and just loose myself, becoming one with the anime.

To me, anime has so much more variety than american tv, so there's much more things to suit my taste. (you can only watch supernatural so many times until you get bored.)

I have learnt a lot of things through watching anime. some of them have very good plots and it doesn;t mean that if they are animated, they are kiddish.
after all these anime are usually created by middle aged adults and above. comparing anime to some dramas in my country, i would choose anime with no doubt.
ANIME RULEZ!!!
Btw anime has influenced many shows and movies. many producers have run out of ideas that they are producing dramas based on these anime.

Because most of the stories on most regular shows can't really compete with the different stories that animes and mangas have.

I have to say, I really enjoy some of the cool plots and interesting/ likeable characters in many an Anime series: Elfen LIed, MONSTER, Claymore, Please Twins, FMP, EVA, Ninja Scroll movie, Seto No Hanayome, Ouran High, and others.

I'm wicked old! And there are three solid reasons why I like watching Anime sometimes over live-actrion stuff:

1.) There are often series that have TONS of super strong emotions which I'm not always finding in alot of the live action series. Elfen Lied is the strongest series I've seen so far. It's got terror, rage, sadness, caring, happiness,...

2.) I really like some of the ACTION shows, like Claymore, Ninja Scroll movie, EVA, and FMP. But there are still some live-action shows that are at the top of the action charts: Matrix, Underworld, Die Hard, Tony Jaa, and some others. I'm not really into the super violent/ gory shows though. But with Anime, I somehow can tolerate better some of the real violent shows. I don't think I could handle Elfen Lied in live action. Yeouch!

3.) Lastly, some of the slap-stick comedy in Anime is great entertainment! Like with Seto No Hanayome and FMP. What a Hoot!

I'm 17...
And I don't think age should be a factor in this. Everyone is entitled to their right of being able to relax and a have a break from the real world every now and then o.o;
