Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume

Covenant of the Plume on the Nintendo DS takes a different approach in terms of gameplay and story. Instead of taking on the role of one of the beautiful angels reporting to Odin, this time you play from the perspective of a mortal, fueled by anger over the loss of his father.

A fantastic cinematic opening introduces you to Wylfred, a silver-haired boy who is out for revenge. Lenneth, also known as the Battle Maiden, stands solemnly next to a dead soldier whom she has chosen to become an Einherjar. For a soldier, there is no greater honor than to be picked by a valkyrie, but from the perspective of the family who has been left behind, death brings nothing but pain and emptiness. You play as the young man Wyl, whose sole purpose is to find the valkyrie that claimed his father's brave soul, which left his mother stricken with grief. While he's on his quest, you have control over his decisions, which can alter his personality as well as change the outcome of the game. The story is dark and deals with morbid themes, but that's to be expected when the material is based on Norse mythology.

Square Enix Trying To Buy Tomb Raider

That price represents, according to Square, a premium of 129% over Eidos' current market value. Meaning that, yes, in other words, they're paying more than what Eidos are worth.

Despite being agreed to by the men in expensive suits at both companies, for the deal to go through it has to be approved by 75% of Eidos' shareholders at the company's next meeting, which is due to take place early next month. Which it should, since the Eidos board are going to recommend shareholders sell up.

Oh Square. You look a little... desperate! Shifty delays, downward-looking finances and now paying over the board for the rights to Tomb Raider (driven into the ground), Hitman (gathering dust) and...Kane & Lynch? You're getting our common sense all Imperial Hot & bothered.

ABOUT CRYSTAL DEFENDERS

STORY

In a land ruled by might and magic, peace is ensured by the benevolent power of the crystals. When a young moogle charged with guarding these crystals learns of an evil presence gathering on the horizon, he calls upon heroes from the far corners of the realm to join forces and stand against this new threat. Wielders of blade and bow, keepers of arts arcane, unite! As darkness draws nigh, only you can protect the light that binds us. The fate of Ivalice lies in the hands of...the Crystal Defenders!

FEATURES

CRYSTAL DEFENDERS is a defensive simulation game in which players deploy characters from the FINAL FANTASY TACTICS series onto a variety of different maps to battle wave after wave of encroaching monsters. The first game in the series, Crystal Guardians, was released in Japan for mobile phones in January 2008. In December of the same year, iPhone 3G, iPod touch and iPod versions were released under the new name, CRYSTAL DEFENDERS. To date, the total number of downloads for the series have reached over 600,000. In January of 2009, the latest version of CRYSTAL DEFENDERS was released for Nintendo’s WiiWare™ service in Japan.

CRYSTAL DEFENDERS is simple and easy to learn—monsters will enter an area and march through it until they are defeated or reach an exit, at which time they will steal one or more crystals. It is up to the player to decide—by pausing the action at crucial moments—when and where to deploy various jobs such as Black Mages or Soldiers that will attempt to defend the party’s crystals. Factors such as map terrain, monster strengths and weaknesses, job attributes, and more will play a crucial role in determining what steps a player should take.

Order of War is a real-time strategy (RTS) game based on World War II where players will see the conflict from two vantage points: America leading the charge against German forces during the summer of 1944 in both a Western and Eastern attack on the country and as the German’s trying to repel Russia’s Red Army as they advanced on Germany from the East.

Key features of Order of War include:

* Experience WWII warfare on an epic, cinematic stage; that truly captures the intensity and scale of the battlefield
* Command of an entire armed force consisting of up to 1,000 soldiers, tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and air planes
* Players can choose between two different campaign modes offering completely different storylines, missions, objectives and environments
* Experience the unique dynamic camera that allows players to command troops over huge geographical scale whilst maintaining movie-like vistas and detail
* In-depth gameplay mode: two different campaign modes, multi-player, Deathmatch and Skirmish

In the summer of 1944, the Second World War entered its end-game when the Allies launched two major operations that would drive back German forces on both the Western and Eastern Fronts at once. In the ultimate test of military strategy, Order of War will challenge you not only to lead America's finest to victory in the West, but also place you in command of German forces charged with repelling the Red Army's seemingly unstoppable offensive in the East. Even the keenest military minds will find that it's one thing to make history, but quite another to change it. Do you have what it takes to command?

YOSUMIN! LIVE FOR XBOX LIVE ARCADE AND YOSUMIN! FOR WINDOWS PC AVAILABLE TODAY

LOS ANGELES (March 27, 2009) — Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in North America announced today that both Yosumin!™ LIVE for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Yosumin! for Windows PC are now available globally via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 and Windows PC content digital distribution sites including STEAM® and Big Fish Games®.

Yosumin! LIVE and Yosumin! are the latest renditions of the innovative puzzle game Yosumin, previously released only for the Japanese market. Players must give a colorful panel of yosumin a sweeping glance, locate a square or rectangle with four corners of the same color and click on the corresponding yosumin to make them disappear. Enjoy an engaging puzzle-game experience just by following these simple rules.

While the basic rules and system remain the same, the latest releases include unique modes specific to each platform version. In the Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 version, players can compete against the computer or with friends, and when online, with other players around the world. In the Windows PC version, players can collect pieces of stained glass as they clear the puzzles in the "Yosumin!
