If you follow the Olympic's Gymnastic, I'm sure you've heard issues regarding the age China's women's gymnastics team. If you don't the article below will give you an insight.

Would't that be even more embarrasing since they were beaten by underage 12 year old kids ?
it all has to do with skill at the end of the day even the men on gymnastic won the gold medal.

All this have to do with talent.Yes,maybe it may have been wrong to lie about their age but the usa team stumble and fell twice.China has always been one of the best.

For now if China says they don't have underage gymnasts I'll believe them, if we don't have written documents of proof then "for now" they are eligible to play in the Olympics.

Although I have to admit...it is A LITTLE, little, suspicious.

But overall, no I don't think they are cheating or underage

As it stands right now China won and they earned it. America made so many mistakes, they are lucky they got past preliminaries and that they got the silver. The american womens were favored to take the gold.

Whether or not the girls are underage will be a mystery forever. The chinese government issues passports, so it be wouldn't difficult for them to forge passports or birth certificates.

China seems extremely serious about the number of medals they win this Olympics. When I was watching the opening they mentioned China's strategy on winning medals. It seemed kind of funny because it seems like the Chinese government is trying to prove its worth as a country, or as a host of the Olympics by winning Olympic medals.

I will have to agree with Dominique Dawes and say there should be a minimum weight requirement, and not so much an age requirement.

Meh I liked them also does not matter the age man. : I some of them are like in there 20's.

Seriously!! That's what my family was talking about when we were watching the Olympics together. Well I don't really know their names but one girl that's supposedly 16 looks like a 10 or 12 years old. It's scary. >.<

They may look like their 10 but to qualify u have to be eitha 15 16 and that reasonable since Shaun from the US girl team is 16 and she's sick as hell but CHina dominated them!!

there is absolutely no problem with age difference.age shouldn't be a problem as long as they got the talents~it is just a stupid article, bullshit!

From ESPN.com --
An inquiry was made in July into the ages of Chinese gymnasts He Kexin, Yang Yilin and Jiang after several reports from online outlets and The New York Times pegged their ages much younger than 16. The average size of the six-member Chinese team is 4-foot-9 and 77 pounds (that's 13 pounds lighter than Johnson, who is also 4-foot-9), and gymnast Deng Linlin doesn't even break the 70-pound mark.

International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) said the issue with the Chinese team had been cleared up, as the athletes provided copies of their passports, which confirm their ages as 16.

New york Times got OWNED.

That settles it so everyone shut up >.>

The Chinese gymnastic team won their gold fairly by being kick.ass and incredible athletes. When I watched it I thought that the US and China were evenly matched for the uneven bars and beam... but when the floor routine came along the US was regrettably (maybe not so regrettably to be beaten by a good team) were creamed *nods*

Don't get jealous because China can kick ass. Besides haven't people noticed tht alot of Asians looks younger than they really are?
Posted 8/13/08
I dont mind.....they have been probably training their whole life and if they were this good they deserve to be known as the best....

and the other teams just have to train more now so that they can get better and maybe like win gold next time

That's what I mean.what does age have to do with talent? I mean the chinese men gymnastic won the gold medal too and none of them look underage (accept maybe for this one guy). It's about the talent, skills and performance that won them the gold medal.

I know. I just saw on CNN (I think) that they were talking about how the girls were underage. Why make spend tons of money on just that one report? Is age so big that you have to make 300 million people care? Tons of people lie about their age and I don't see any of them on the news.
