Hey guys, im creating this thread for all higurashi fans, this is pretty much a hangout so you can chat about anything higurashi related.
Post your fav arcs, characters, thoughts and what made you watch this extremly awesome anime.......NiPa ^^. Okay ill start off..... I love Higurashi because of the horror themed murdering slaurtering villages of Hinamizawa, but then series 2 i was dissapointed with the lack off horror........but......i watched....and continued to watch.......the plot is so strong and has a deep feeling.....it hooked me, i wanted to know more!!!! My fav character has to be a tie with the ever so freaky but gentle Rena and Rika with her cute NiPa and meow that she makes. The reason i started this anime was seing the gif of poor Rika stabbing her head on the knife firmly held. Good times.......Ni Pa^^ PLEASE use the edit button next time! ~ Lem Lem |

I love Higurashi for the intrigue. Especially in the first arc. It was such a mystery, and it became a joy to slowly unravel its secrets. The cool part is, they leave that first arc up to the viewer to piece together.

I love the series of Higurashi due to its suspense and horror and how they planned the story. It makes you want to watch more and think about your action.
And like vector18 I started to watch the series after seeing Rika stabbing her neck with the knife that she firmly held not as gif but as video of the episode I end up founding on an artist site by chance. After watching it, I got intrigued by that scene and went down to some researches what was Higurashi and after reading a few lines on Wikipedia. I decided to not to read further but rather watch the series. By the end of the first season it has become one of my ''must watch'' anime. And then Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai came out and after watching it I have to say is great. It did have less psycho laugh and horror but the plot was so great it makes you want to see what will happen next. And now the season 3 was announce to be release by 2008 I can't wait to see what will happened next. Oh and something interesting about the Episode 12 of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai for those who don’t know yet. It was suppose to be preempted but they still have aired it. Wondering why they wanted to preempted? Well if you seek the answer search it hehehe. Or if you are too lazy go to: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-09-24/second-ax-slashing-incident-does-not-preempt-higurashi http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-09-20/higurashi-kai-preempted-due-to-various-circumstances Sorry for the long post I tend to get carried away ._. |

I love Higurash because it is made so well. It almost creates a welcoming setting and community. You feel as though you are Keiichi being welcomed into the group. Then, when you least expect it, everyone turns against him. You get so into it, that you feel that you are a part of the horror and mystery.
Just when you start to enjoy that, they throw something else at you. A plot. Now it makes you think. Why do they keep on reliving these events? What is causing one of them to go insane? Who will it be next? Then they start going on a rolercoster (spelling?) ride. The god is causing the deaths. The disease is causing the deaths. The alians are causing the death. Then they throw even more at you. The character's pasts. It becomes quite interesting. Then in the second season, they do the impossible. The tie it all together. While this almost ruins the mystery of it all, it was necisary. GO HIGURASHI! WOOT! lol |

For the record, during the school year, I'm known to not get on for months...

I liked HNNKN and HNNKNK because of the fact that is was different. They made it so welcoming and funny but at the same time, it gave you that disturbing feeling. It showed brutal murders and that somewhat showed the reality of life because we dont know it but most real life murder cases are that brutal and insane. It was addictive and I felt like I HAD to watch it everyday until it ended. The mystery of it was crazy and I felt like a detective, trying to put pieces together and figuring out what is happening and what might happen next. The second season was a complete shocker, I wasn't expecting it to be so spiritual yet still scientific. It was awsome seeing the pieces of the puzzle slowly getting together and I felt somewhat satisfied and anxious at the same time because I felt that the ending would be like every other arc had ended up being....i can proudly say its one of my favorite series and personally, the blood and gore didnt discust me much but the nail thing was just..ahh..i felt shions pain at that moment...=X

But people who like reading novels with lots of text (bookworms) and don't watch too much anime would like that... One of my Japanese classmate who is a bookworm and isn't interested in anime read the novel and said it was good and scary... |

I don't see the point of making a novel out of Higurashi when.......... it was a novel to begin with O_o, Besides, the visual novel is better since you get experiance of the sound effects, BGM, and seeing the character's facial expressions.

Visual novels are different than normal novels though. Visual novels are more "interactive" and normal novels are more "narrative"...
