Well considering that he only has one more Gold AND World Record to go to tie Spitz, I think he can do it. He's got at least two races left, so he should AT LEAST be able to tie Spitz's record (considering he IS Michael Phelps and all)...

Anyways, even though I think that Phelps is rather impressive, I found that thus far the thing that has captivated me the most was Nastia Liukin's Gold in the Women's Individual All-Around for Gymnastics. Good God, she had me on the edge of my seat at times and I almost felt like cheering for her Bela Karolyi style. She was just AWESOME! (And I am not even a huge fan of gymnastics)

phelps... pretty awesome at swimming. but now i think he's just arrogant, could at least be the teeniest bit suprised to get first every single time. but he just stares at the board and his facial expression never changes.
at least in 2004 he smiles.

but...good job for him. make us proud! make US[A] proud!

damn..why did she win? still don't understand how. i think the judges just felt sorry for her because of her ankle injury and all. GO CHINA!
it's time china wins the olympics. btw, anyone know if they count the gold medals or overall medals for winner of olympics?

She won because it was rather obvious that she made the fewest mistakes and had some of the more difficult routines...I mean, it really doesn't matter if its China's Olympics or not, Liukin was still obviously the best performer in the field. (Just ask any expert like Bela Karolyi)

haha I was cheering for Shawn Johnson. In my opinion, she was the most consistent gymnast.
The scoring given by the judges were really weird.

Michael Phelps is amazing! Beating everybody to get gold is already good enough but he does it in world record speed.

Yeah, I will agree that Shawn is usually really consistent and that the judging seemed REALLY weird, but I just think that Nastia made fewer noticeable mistakes (Note: When I say noticeable, I mean to an untrained eye)...

And yeah, I think the absolutely amazing part with Phelps is that every final he has swam [at this Olympics] he has gotten the world record time on in addition to the gold. It truly is an amazing feat and would be even more so if he surpasses Spitz.
