All dbz Characters L. Goku went from a power level of 5 or something to the strongest in the universe.. That only took him 40-50 years while spending 10 of those years dead :)
Also, people who say Gintoki from Gintama... He hasn't really gotten stronger since he clearly has had his ability's (Gona go on about show for a tiny bit) since before the Amanto wars, he just doesn't use them to the full extent in most fights because he sees it as a waste (lol i bothered writing all that lol)

Hajime No Ippo's main character is really strong btw his name is Ippo if you didn't know...
Luffy from One Piece is way wicked, like in most shows they get stronger after a loss and/or learning from some type of master. But Luffy kicks ass and just gets stronger and he learns all the moves by himself.
Tsuna from Hitman Reborn!!~ He starts out way weak, literally a wimp; and becomes pretty cool. Of course Yamamoto is a for sure in there vote XD
