Ok , so kids take into mind Tupac may have been philisophical but his vocabulary was that of third grader's , I'm sorry but cussing shows a weak vocabulary. If you can't lay down a ryme with structer and at least some level of complexity you're not the best.

I actually have to ask you .........what Tupac song have you heard.....Tupac isn't the horrible....illiterate person you are describing!

Compared to the ones who can lay down a complex line , he very much is.

Yeah , maybe a little off topic but good music doesn't need a purpose , take ambient or classic for example , there are no words.

Good music doesn't ALWAYS need purpose.

There's also the feel good music that makes you dance.

Remember that some songs with a purpose....actually have a DEPRESSING purpose.

That's because all music isn't pop , it may deal with reality , which is depressing. That doesn't make it any less good.

so why is it that most ppl are so hard on lack of certain substancial lyrical content, ie waffle26's opinion of 2pac having little complexity in his rhymes.
If i was a rapper i would rap about stuff i relate to...

politics- outta the question *snooze*
world peace- yeah i beleve thats gonna happen (sarcasm)
sexy women- hmmmmm i like those
sexy men- HELL the fuck NO
money- i like that too

My point is you can rap about bullshit all day and be Great at it i.e. Lil Wayne, just because you not spittin triple syllabal rhyme schemes about Congress & poverty doesnt make you garbage

I guess my main idea is complexity isnt the only thing or most important thing an artist should be judged on

Look at Jeezy.......he raps about nothing but selling dope...and he is a success. ......cussing should not be a major factor in the actual quality of the words majority of the rappers today cuss and hell alot of people i'd say 80% of americans cuss! So just because cussing may and sometimes does deterioate the quality of the song....it doesn't deterioate the message!!! I hope that makes sense!

1st i luv Weezy (no homo) but even tho i understand he is overated, he is greatly underappreciated for the same reason. Granted some people like him just cuz everybody else does & hes hot right now, but others hate him for the same reason. If you listen & comprehend his lyrical content you'll see that he is a great lyriscist. AND STOP HATING BY COMPARING HIM TO, WU TANG, BIG L, ETC. these ppl had there era, THEY ARE EASTCOAST LEGENDS, recognize the proper time frames for comparison, WEEZY ISA SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT HOLDING THE TITLE

I know cussing can be something used to show emphasis , but it loses it's meaning if you use it too much. So that brings up the real question of what is an MC?

i know what is an i quote Da Teacha KRS-ONE "this is the difference between MC'ing n rap. Rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal, MC's spit rhymes to uplift they people" n now u know!

Nas is okay but...he has never been my fav either but I know he can rap...

Nas USED to be just utterly fantastic...then in 97 or 98 he decided to do that "hate me now" video with that douche bag P. diddy and he just fell off from there.

For a brief moment he bought into the stupid idea that rocking bright leather suites exploading cars and Siberian tigers in cages made for great hip hop

He dropped the ball.

But his whole album was horrible though...that just amplified what the album was showing.
