I agree with you, it just seems so dumb. what is the point of making such a product...shouldnt these researchers/scientists find something better and neccessary to do

but i think it was not really like a nano technology.

I don't think its a good idea.

To be honest, if they release this, we would have world destruction.

Wait, why? You may ask. Oh its fun stuff?

Wait til the military gets their hands on this, oh and for public sale? HAH, you can SHOP LIFT the sucker RIGHT OFF the shelf, and go INVISIBLE right out the door.

This is TOTAL FAIL.

I love these uncreative responces of the uses the average person would have of this product, and all these "OMGZ WASTE OF RESOURCES" posts.

First of all, only special ops will ever have this technology (under very special cases, involving civilians and several hostages) if it comes out. If anyone sees it anywhere else, it came from the black market. Not even the general millitary will have a passing glance of it in use, much much less then the average citizen.

Secondly, anyone in poession of said technology WILL get arrested unill every shop, store, and public areana is armed with the ability to see through said cloak.

Third, the current security system in most stores that involve expensive merchandise have magnatic strips that do not act like electromagnatic waves ( gamma rays to radio waves; you guys been to school, right? RIGHT??). As soon as said merchandise goes through the bars, it'll make that very uncanny sound that i believe all of you are familiar with.

Fourth, there will never be a public release of this product unless there was a public means of catching said user while he was mobile. That defeats the point of it being an "invisible cloak" for special ops uses.

Lastly, the article specifically said that it cannot bend ALL of the waves in the electromagnatic spectrum, only in visible light. So if anyone whipped out... say... an infered machine/ viewer, the user can consider him/herself busted.

That being said: If it catches the terrorist groups faster, find captured armed units alive, and put Osama in confined prison, without killing an entire village, i'm all for it.

I think this is relevant, think about the advancement in military. Less casualty for the soldiers, destruction of vehicles etc. (For the side with the invisibility cloaking)

yeah,,, the cloak mentioned woudn't be that effective at all... it mentioned you can still be seen from behind, so in that respect it could only work if the people you don't want to see you happen to be in front of you, and another thing is that it's a cloak of invisibillity and not a cloak of silence. If you make any noise the cloak it's useless even if the people you don't want to see you does happen to be in front of you because they can still hear you. and even without all that stuff, a simple use of infrared will make you visible even from the front blowing your cover even if you didn't make any noise or have anyone behind you. they could be available to the public and little kids could go around pretending to be invisible and look less stupid than if they were doing it without one.
