Pretty obviously!

The anime poster looks boring -and it has nothing to do with the "too extreme scens" but if u don't understand the jokes in Gintama(probably a lot who doesn't), then the whole anime-manga is boring. U know the whole Gintama serie is built up to make parodys by other stuff -take ex. the 1st epiode where Gintama is surrounded in the bamboo forest(probably taken from Rurouni Kenshin)

I pretty much think Gintama is made to those who understand a different level of joke.. It's like watching a stand up comedy, but just in animation There's sometimes so lame jokes that u just laugh because it's lame Like the recent episode where Katsura uses the tails as a sword..

It can't have anything to do with humor I know people who watch and love it and they're 12 & 13... i'm sure they miss plenty of jokes but Gintama just has so much it doesn't change much for them

I think it lies in the fact that most people are FREAKS who want a plot and have poor taste...

I think that Gintama is somewhat too close to reality. For example, it talks about Obama-"Yes We Can!" and the many current events that are happening in the USA. Global warming, the economy, and other issues around the world-maybe. It takes the current things that are happening in this world into perspective. Well, that is what I think. I love this anime though.

Ginpachi-sensei@:I agree with you, young kids would not know what to expect of this anime, unless they were like my age, 18 or teen 15 and over. It would not be funny if they did not know what was going on.

Also the episodes might be random to some people, but most of the episodes have some kind of inspiring aspiration to them. Some people that I have talked to said that Gintama does not have a storyline like, Naruto, Bleach, and the many super well-known popular animes and mangas.

Gintoki's deep meaningful words, for example. I guess the "next best thing" is all about action and dramas. Gintama has all of that in the anime and mangas. Gintama has Comedy, Action, Adventure, Drama, and some horror in it- Parody of Grudge and Saw. Gintama is very diverse.

It's far too obscure and Japanese, so much of the humour is untranslatable or will go right over your head unless you're a hardened otaku. It's the absolute opposite of mainstream, outside of Japan.

Yea. Gintama doesn't have enough titties and explosive fist fights for the kids to like it. Gintama is definitely an acquired taste.

I loved it. I read the manga first so thats what got me interested in it. When I found it on crunchyroll.com and found that I didn't have to pay to watch it I was exstatic. It was the only thing I talked about for a whole week. I love this anime.

I don't know the animes they're parodying most of the time but I still love it. Some people just don't get the jokes and prefer lighter comedy like Ouran or whatever.

Imo they should just play it on an animation channel later in the evening in NA with the subtitles. I can pretty much guarentee with the right ad campaign it would do well.

Every single friend, especially the guys, that I have introduced this to have loved it, even if they didn't get all the references.

And what's with the comment about no hot male characters?? Most of the main male chara's are foxy. The only issue I could see would be lack of females, since there's only really two legal age attractive ones. But Naruto is mostly male and so is Bleach when you look at the ratios.

It's not popular in NA/europe because they haven't bothered to try and make it so in those countries yet.
