I'm gonna be begging my parents to go to New York for 2 days just to audition even though I live in New Jersey. I'm probably not gonna get accepted because I'm Vietnamese-Chinese though. GOOD LUCK TO ALL PARTICIPANTS THOUGH!!!

If you can speak Mandarin, the chances are pretty high. I am not sure about Cantonese. But considering that China, Japan, and Hong Kong having one of the biggest Asia music industry, I am sure knowing either one will help, since SM is promoting in those countries as well.

I can only say a couple words in Mandarin but I pick up fast. I just don't remember the words I learn..lol.. The only languages I speak fluently are Vietnamese and English which kinda sucks cause sometimes I'd trade English with Mandarin

u dont hav to sing korean, u can sing any launguage u want.....

I am not sure if this is true, but I heard SM don't want to hear people sing songs from their artists. Then again, if u have the talents, it doesn't matter.

They'll probably ask u to dance too.

haha yeah i also heard that you could sing any language you want

but why do they not want you to sing songs from their artists? cause you can do a cover too so why wouldnt they want you to sing there songs?

and i dont think they ask you to dance too...
cause like when Zhang Li Yin aka. Jang Ri In first debuted she just stood there and sang...

-sorry double post-

but in terms of money i do agree with rabbitlover8:

Agree, SM care a lot about appearance. (That's how the world work)
You don't have to be super good, they will train you. (Probably for at least 2 -3 years)
If you're going to be an artist for the money, forget about SM Town. I mean all singer/actors work really hard, with those time/hard work, u'll probably make more money else where. You should love to sing/act, not thinking about the reward. Is about ur DREAM!!! Image

it is all about your dream even if you dont make enough money..
being an 'entertainer' is all about your passion to sing and to please people!
sure you might not make the most money (or you might...)
but you do it cause you love it

I'm not planning to audition this year maybe in like... 5 years or so.
I need to finish highschool and train so I don't have to be a trainee so long
cuz I really wanna debut already if they accept me.

Good luck for every one & i hope they will hold an audition in my country, north africans are not bad & they can speak many languages & they are soo talented!!

Oooh you're from Morocco. Cool.

Anyways, this is probably how SM is going to be

1. You have to look very good
2. You can have mediocre talent, as long as you look good
3. You have to be Asian
4. You can't expect to much money or power over your music

Honestly, I say people shouldn't even bother because these talent agencies pretty much own you. Also, they try to get as much money as possible and worry less about anything else. If you really value music and your musical talents, I say you should try to look elsewhere. However, if you just want to be in the "music" industry, go for it.

thanks for the advice!
i don't fullfil any of the conditions above,so,any talent agency will be cursed if it accept me
I don't think at all to leave my studies & run after showbiz!
But i wish good luck to all people participating!
U know much about the audition, how could u???

It's not that I know the auditions; I just pretty much know the ways of these talent agencies. They're businesses more than anything else, so they do what they can to make the most money.

They all want to make money, but the difference between these agencies and other record companies is how much they value the music and the artist. Many of the talent agencies put anything together to make a quick buck and could almost care less about artist input. The artists are also less likely to be individuals. They think about what tween and teen girls like and make the artists conform to that. Most of the artists are content with that, but I value music too much for me to be cool with it.
