ever wondered how or why people just explode, seemingly for no reason? how they can just be sitting in a chair, talking to someone and then BAM they're gone?
do you ever wonder if it can happen to you? have you ever seen it happen?

I remember watching a show a long time ago talking about it, I kinda remember them saying it could be from food you ate. they put I think canola oil, baking soda I think, some other stuff too but stuff like that. it all started to heat up and burst into flames. I myself am to tally clueless and really don't think about it. If I do combust then oh well.

and i know it's your thing to be cynical RSG, but it does happen, there was even stuff on TV a little while ago about it.

We had to watch a video about this in chemistry class a long time ago. I forget who made the video, but apparently they tested various things like the methanol entering the stomach and exploding stuff but ended up deciding that it couldn't account for all the cases. I don't think they ever gave an explanation at the end.

It is a little freaky, but there is probably some kind of reasoning behind it that we just haven't encountered yet. Never known anyone it's happened to personally, so it's rare enough I don't really stress over it.

its no myth, u hear about it in nonficticion mysteries, as for me i still believe that it didnt happen naturally, and that they were murdered in a way that still havent been found

interesting concept but how would that account for ALL the cases of spontaneous combustion out there?

spontaneous combustion exists, whether SHC does or not, nobody really knows. every test that has ever been done has shown inconclusive evidence. they can account for some cases, but not other.

it almost only happens to older people, or alcoholics, and usually they smoke. when it happens. it is rare to find much left, but the entire body does not burn, unlike what SHOULD happen, and it burns so hot, and so quickly that it barely even singes what they are sitting on. it is like an internal flash-fire, and it likely actually has no true fire that is visible, since it comes from the inside.

as for the "ive seen video of it happening", from all the research ive done into paranormal (which is a lot) i have never heard of a single case of it being documented happening with more than eyewitness, that was not debunked (i think ive actually seen the video you are talking about, in vietnam, and it is fake). only 2 known survivors, to my knowledge, have ever been seen, either.

I once saw a picture of a combustion victim, the wooden floor beneath him had been burned black but his furniture was barely damaged...strange.

"Spontaneous combustion starts when oxidation occurs within a substance, which releases heat. If the heat does not escape from the material, and the temperature of the material rises above its ignition point, spontaneous combustion will occur."

gotta love wikipedia. =)

spontaneous human combustion, however, is not proven to be a natural occurence. I have no idea how it occurs... but there are a few hypotheses that seem plausible, if you're interested. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_human_combustion#SHC_and_modern_science
