Wow. The extended discussion sure has a LOT of GOD discussions.

Anyway...I am a skeptic when it comes to this supposedly omnipotent being. I think that it's beyond our capabilities to prove or disprove this being's supposed existence.

It's a never ending debate when it comes to god
Mm, sort of like the Fool in the Book of Psalms, the fool said something like 'in his heart god does not exist.'

And Anselm refuted that statement saying "something than which nothing greater can be thought..." Bla bla.. twas a long reading... forgot the rest.Something about understanding something something. XD
Then there's Guanilo replying on behalf of the fool in the Book of Psalms saying he would only be certain that such a thing exists if well, if it's there.

It's a faith versus skepticism thing. We can't say he does or does NOT exist when we really don't have an ounce of ACTUAL evidence to prove he does or does not exist. It's just one of those mysteries.

There would be doubt considering that man dubbed "God" in the first place. Men wrote the Bible that would exemplify His existence, and whether or not there was a divine intervention involved, we could never tell unless one would have a faith that could withstand the skepticism and trivialities most of us would present.

And I am in agreement to what the user above me had stated, it is rather hard to disprove an entity whose existence we could hardly comprehend.

So who's to say He's not there?

1. The only physical evidence of his existence is a book that was written thousands of years ago when people explained all natural phenomena as an act of a divine being because they didn't have the means to study them scientifically. Since then, it has been translated countless times by many different people, there's no way to know how many times it has been edited in any way since then.

2. Everyone interprets his teachings different ways, and everyone has their own idea of what a true Christian is, so how are we supposed to know who's right?

3. There's so many other religions in the world, how are we supposed to know which one is the right one? How are we supposed to know which divine beings really exist?

I know that there's no real evidence against his existence, but there also isn't any evidence against the fact that there may be a microscopic Galapagos tortoise on my back watching porn right now, yet I doubt that anyone would believe that there is one. Our imaginations can come up with many things that don't have any evidence to support or refute it, and I don't see why God is favored over everything else.

I don't see how it's trendy when plenty of people get harassed for it all the time (I sure do). I thought pastafanarianism was the new "cool" religion?

I don't doubt God. I love God.
I just doubt the way some churches present the word of God or how
churches think they are superior to other churches.
It's stupid.
Spread the love!

seriously, from what i know about scientist discovered about 'GOD'
is that... he's a black. no offence but it's what the scientist came up with
im not being racist or anything but different races and religions see 'GOD' differently
im not the kind who really believe in 'GOD' since i have no idea if he/she really exist

The reason why I doubt god is that we cannot substantiate 'its' omnipotent existance and the peice of literature we use to study this being was man-made.

Scientists can't study God because he isn't a part of nature. If they were able to "discover" that God was black, then that would mean that he does exist and everyone in the world would follow him under the same religion.

The scientists must have watched Bruce Almighty quite a few times then.
What proof did they provide?

Well, I am just curious on what people will say on this one.

By "GOD," I mean supernatural beings and the divine.

By doubt, it can mean deny, skeptical, hate, disdain, disregard, etc. Pick your favorite or use another synonym.

Please refrain from having too much flaming and brow-beating.

Note: I am a Contemporary Christian. I am not trying to convert anybody. I respect everyone's opinions, and I believe that we have a choice on what to believe in.

I do not believe in god because there is no good evidence for his existence that I am aware of.

I wish to point out that most of do not choose what to believe. If I see three cats in the road I think "hmm there are three cats". I do not choose to accept my senses as accurate; I just do so. One can not choose to think there is a god simply because one wishes to do so. People are either convinced by evidence they have seen or have been conditioned to believe. Not many people choose to believe things. Try to convince yourself 2+2=8.
