I've watched the conversation between you and digs. Strikingly interesting to me because either point is justified, especially the one who choses his/her own actions. You seem to have a preference for something destructive in light of "fun" as you have suggested to digs in the course of your conversation. That may be your way of fun knowing you'll only live long for a given time. Yet he is also entitled to live his own fun the way he sees fit. It's all in the matter of choosing that makes life worth living.

We choose to do something because it can make us whole. It's funny how most people don't live life that way because they "got plenty of time". Why can't you have fun now and wait until the last days of your life? You might wonder why I'm asking this knowing that certain actions have consequences. Well that's no surprise because any action will have consequences, regardless of whether they're good or bad. Instead, try on these shoes and look in another perspective. Why should something that is "fun" be limited to destruction? Without exploring what it is beyond that, the possibilities that exist for you is bounded by that, which is in this case destruction. Mind you there's nothing wrong with your preference. It is perfect the way it is. That is one of the most interesting aspects of your life, that it is perfect the way it is, regardless of the fortunes and misfortunes. If someone made a movie about your life, it would sell (can you imagine the drama that exists in one's life, anybody's life?) Let's expand this idea further by quoting other things you have said.

Let's talk about the legacy since it was brought up. You can easily dismiss the fact that no legacy will ever be left behind because there is no "audience" to bear witness to it. Of course that reasoning is still bounded by your initial constraints: "earth is gone our legacy is gone", "we haven't met with other intelligent life yet, so our existance would completely disapear", "you wouldnt be remembered at all, no one would, there would be nobody left to remember you, or any one else for that matter". digs on the other hand is sure that there would be an audience and they do not even have to be family or people of the earth (even though he did not mention alternatives or substitutes) because he created that possibility with other views he holds unto: God, family, and by extension himself including all others since it is implied that he believes in an afterlife. These possibilities cannot exist for you because you do not share these views, which is totally fine. I'm merely pointing out the fact that the power choice has a bearing on what possibilities can exist for a person and in that light can live up his or her life to the fullest, no matter what that is.

Now unto my own input. Knowing my days would end, I will enjoy life's pleasantries and treat myself to fine food, go on trips and visit places I've always wanted to see, and I'll invite people whom I wish to spend these times with. I'll even have the most amazing sex with someone I truly love. I'll be drinking great wine and be merry. Sure I'll probably do some stupid things here and there for laughs but nothing too destructive. I'll fill my last days with joy and laughter. Of course for the most part it will require quite an amount of money but knowing I'm living my last few days, I'll happily spend it all.

The way I live my life is, as long as I'm having fun when I die, I don't give a damn when I die.

Thats some of the other stuff I'd do, go waste all my money of good food, a good movie I've always wanted to see but have been to lazy to see, of course leaving enough behind that I can still recover if the space rock does happen to miss and not rape the earth.

But ultimately the most fun i'd be having is watching society go to hell. That would be the most rewarding experience of them all.

I would get myself a video camera and notebook. Make up some crazy story. And then hope if anyone survived they'd find it and think it was true. I'd be a major part of future history then hehe

Otherwise I'd be with family; and at least say goodbye and thank you to all my friends. I'd like to find a quiet spot by myself the hour before; and pray and watch the meteor crash into the Earth. While it would be the end; it would at least be a beautiful end.

'Throw a party, invite anyone and everyone.

Better than freaking out, just relax have a good time and hold out till the void swallows us all.

I feel sorry for the nuts that would spend there last amount of time in a church worshiping something that is more than likely not real.
But what the heck if they wanna spend there last day on earth on there knees more power to them, but what a wast of a day.

WOW !! I don't think I'd want to know the big WHEN I'm gonna die
....... an unavoidable smashing earth event would present that awful scenario, and to be honest panic would be my first reaction. My second knee jerk reaction would be to start praying........ ( just like I did the morning of 9/11/01, when the morning TV news show broke the story....................) ....... as my thoughts would instinctively center on all the people impacted by the horrific events that follow such an announcement .
The next action I would take at earth's end would be to locate my family, then see if anyone around me needed help in finding their loved ones, or needed comfort for their own panic attack.
Yes, I'm imaging a reality view of the subject, here--& depending on how much time we'd have between announcement & the actual impact, partying with family, friends, and the rest of humanity, for that matter, is a good idea!!!!!
I wouldn't be interested in excessive or violent behavior,-- however, as the end drew nearer, I might be tempted into considering some method of anesthetizing myself to alleviate the anxiety , tho the actual ending event, when it happens, probably wouldn't leave a lot of time to suffer physically. Even in an ideal setting, I think I'm just too human in my own efforts to think I could maintain altruistic behavior no matter how much I'd want to........ but I guess I'll never know, unless it happens ----- God forbid!

This probably has something to do with 2012 again, Nibiru, or planet X as it is also called.

If this world was coming to an end.. Maybe most of us wouldn't even know beforehand. That would be really sad. But IF I did know I would die in a couple of days... I wouldn't know what I'll do. I'd probably just kill myself and get it over with.

Ok....so I'm watching this special on the History channel about the 6 top ways that Man-kind can meet it's end and they are asking these normal every day people what they would do if they found out that there was this giant asteroid heading for Earth! Mind you, there is no way to avoid our demise! not one of the answers I heard made any real sense to me....there was: I would be on my kness praying(well DUH): I would want to have kids right away(what kind of a SICK SOB would do that): I would spend all my money...stupid right? Here is my answer: I would do every single illegal drug I can get my hands on! every thing I was told was bad for me or immoral, I will do them with GUSTO! SMOKE IT, SNIFF IT, DRINK IT, SWALLOW IT...IT SHALL BE DONE!!! If I am to die in a FIERY EXPLOSION OF HELLISH PROPORTIONS, I am NOT doing it SOBER! What about you guys?

If I knew that I would die, and there is nothing I can do to preven it- first, in my depression I would drink myself into joviality, and, if I can't reach that, then unconciousness. Then, when my soul and mortal body is part, I can be sure that I was practically dead at that point.

I would say good bye to friend and foe and take that road less traveled and trek along it as far as I could before the big bang..

whiskey would be my only companion...

You know, that would really make a nice painting. You have a way with words.
