It also depends on the age of the person learning the language.

hmmmm

speaking in english is not hard (as long as your purpose is to be understood by others) BUT doing essays, school paper works, business letter etc., it is quite hard hahaha because you have to check every single thing in your sentences/paragraphs. PHEW! ;P

-ENGLISH is our universal language... I think, all of us should learn and practice it... it is your loss if you can't speak or understand english... ;D

-just an example
BUT please just based on my experience(KOREANS in particular), BEFORE going to the university/country where you want to learn english, PLEASE be reminded that you have to know how to speak/UNDERSTAND english (even a little!)... people around you will not ADJUST FOR YOU! and stop CHEATING... (hatred haha ;P) haiiiiiii or maybe Phils. is stupid accepting them just to earn money...

If it's not introduced to you as early as your young or between the age of 10-18 then its hard..
but for the likes of filipinos it's easy coz it was introduced to us upon entering elementary school..

i have a question though wich is harder to study Korean Language or Japanese Language?

for me, it is nihonggo... for instance, for writing.. u only need to learn hangeul and hanja for korean language..but for nihonggo, u need to master hiragana, katakana and kanji...n they have thousands of kanji characters... でも おもしろいですよ。。

i think asian find it hard to master english because english's grammar is totally different from their first language..n most of them r developed country, like japan,so mastering english is not their main priority...
but they do look high on someone who's good in english tho...

well i just can't seem to know why many actors and singers in Korea or even Taiwan actors cant seem to speak properly in english once i saw my Favourite singer win an award and he just made a fool of himself by just speaking in English ....>for example the guys in Super Junior i love them to the max , their songs are nice and all but once they speak in English they turn really funny...

First of all, your english is really bad.

South Korea, Japan, Taiwan are developed countries, so people don't need to speak english fluently, just basic is enough for them, Actually, they don't even need to speak english.

Even the celebrities and most of the people from Europe can't even speak English.

know what? i reviewed her statement and i don't think that her english is very bad, save from the thread's title (which is quite, nvm)..
her grammar is almost perfect--the only mistakes are her punctuation marks which i think are quite intentional like the: "dont", "cant" and periods and commas..but other than that her grammar is pretty okay..i'm not saying it's perfect, though but look again, and the only things missing are the punctuation marks, apostrophes and hmmm..guess that's it...

and for your 2nd paragraph...yeah, s.korea, japan and taiwan are developed countries but this is now a globalizing world. even super-developed countries like them needs to learn the universal language, which is english, to compete in this ever-growing capitalist global economy..in our country, the Philippines, there are A LOT of koreans, japanese and chinese students and even professionals who reside her just to learn ENGLISH..they enroll in universities just to learn that..whew! (as of now, i have many korean friends who are in dire need to learn because they say that to have a good career in korea, they need TO BE FLUENT in English..

for your third paragraph/statement.........that's a trivia....hehe..thanks for saying..

I completely agree with you. For the third statement- speaking english is very common in Europe, so don't say that most of the ppl can't do it.

mistakes on her topic line.

Filipinos can speak english but Most of them have bad grammer and pronunciation.
For korean, chinese, japanese students, Philippines is the cheapest country than their own country, to learn English.

people from developed countries have realized about the importance of english language, but still, people are conservative.

what a harsh comment abt the cheapest country to learn schimazo, by the way your "grammer" shd be Grammar.

We, Filipinos are good on speaking English even in Writting grammar, when it comes to the pronunciation, sometimes it differs because just like in other countries, Here too, in the Philippines we have provinces w/ different dialects that have accent that's why sometimes the pronunciation differes from the real pronunciation, but I guess it doesn't matter as long as we can understand, it's ok.

Regarding this forum, I think It's hard to speak English if it's not your second Language, do you get what I mean? like in other Asian countries, they have their own language unlike us, Here in the Philippines, I think it's "thanks" to our History that it turned out that we are good in speaking English, because if you go back to our history if we hadn't been under American and other countries, we would still be Using our Alibata up to these days, so Don't make fun of those people who can't speak English well, if they do try and it sounds funny, just let pass, at least their doing their best to cross the Language barrier.

you can't blame them, there is nothing wrong with that, it only shows how rich their culture is. filipinos are just too much for patronizing american culture and it's called "McDonaldization", so don't worry if you can't speak english, it's just globalization thing and personally i don't like it

Why do people need to know English anyway, huh? Why is it so important that overseas countries have to know English? It's like any other language. People just need to know their mother language. Why do people make fun of other people's English?

It depends on your native tongue...some food for thought German is the closest language to english so they have an easier transition...but speaking it isn't really that hard unless you want to speak properly...when it comes to being grammatically correct english can be a bitch...

So? Just because they speak it doesn't mean people non-American need to speak it (I'm not hating on the English language it's just that I find it sad people make fun of other people's english)

and also what i have notice about some asian ppl mostly form china they can't pronuance the letter r instead they turn it unto an l

and it doesn't matter if they don't do it all right as long as i can understand what they mean
even i suck at it some times my gramman isn't that good either
