Hello!
1. My name is Alyssa, as you can probably tell from my user name,.However, it is pronounced ah-lee-sah!
2. I am an 18 year old female currently residing in North Carolina.
3. I fractured my arm when younger on a trampoline, and now I can make my arm bend at a strange angle.
4. The oldest anime I can recall is watching Samurai X on Adult Swim. I had also watched some Inuasha and Naruto, but I never had a big interest in it nor did I know it was anime. After my elder sister moved in with us for a bit she showed my the wonderful world of anime. Thanks to anime I finally have a talent, drawing, and something I love. However, I do not have anyone to talk to about it...So I hope by joining this website I can make some friends who are anime lovers.
If you read this thank you very much, and please don't be afraid to message me!

Hello my name is Jonathan
32/male/Charlotte
Most people have no clue I am into anime.
I guess I was always interested, but I guess the first time I was hooked on a show was about 1999 when I first saw NGE. I didnt really start watching it until about 3 years ago when I started going to school and needed a cheap alternative to going out on weekends.

pleasure to meet all of you

I like to dabble in a variety of areas, but never seem to stick to one long enough to get really good at it. Also, it turns out I'm a pretty good shot with a pistol.

The year was 1993, and I'd just discovered that a beloved show from my childhood (Battle of the Planets) was actually a recut/redubbed show from Japan (Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman). Combine that with my discovery of the works of Rumiko Takahashi and I went all in (mainly I'm talking about Ranma 1/2 here, though the Mermaid series is also pretty good and I enjoyed Urusei Yatsura). Pulling what information I could off of the Anime Turnpike (once I finally had internet access), learning about all the shows I'd watched when I was younger that were recut from anime, and tracking them down(Tetsuwan Atom, Macross). I remember fansub tape-trading circles, which was the only way to see a number of shows outside of living in Japan. I remember discovering Viz Video, USMC, US Renditions, Streamline, AD Vision, Animeigo, Pioneer Anime, and then watching most of these companies disappear over the 90's and 2000's as the model for distribution changed dramatically.

I watched the major players bastardize anime for broadcast on TV, and slowly felt myself becoming less and less interested in the mountains of harem/emo anime I was seeing. Eventually I just settled into watching some older shows I'd really enjoyed, convinced that very little new stuff was worth checking out. Then, about 2 months ago I came home from work to find my wife watching Oreimo. She was in the middle of episode 2, so I sat down with her. Before we knew it, we'd watched the entire first season. I hadn't gotten that pulled into a show for quite some time, so I'm quite excited about what the future holds.

18 year-old me would have been absolutely thrilled with a site like this. On-demand streaming of a huge variety of shows, some of them being simultaneously broadcast in Japan. I can't imagine what it would be like to be discovering anime today, with all the resources available. To those of you who have just found it, you're in for a treat.

This turned into a bit of a novel.

TL/DR version: I've been watching anime for over 20 years. Thanks to Crunchyroll I'm getting excited about anime again.

Hallo.

My name is A Wind Temple in Appalachia (I really suppose you could call this more of a description, and a nonliteral one at that, you may abbreviate it however you'd like). I am a part-time anime watcher with no particular sub/dub preference who also sometimes watches Toonami, that and this website being my major outlets for anime consumption, though obviously this somewhat moreso due to the higher variety of things here.

I enjoy shows about enigmas, shows about magic, shows about cute people doing cute things, and shows with good art direction.

I am also a musician. I hope I'll be welcomed here.

If you say AWTIA out loud it's actually not so bad It also reminds me of a character on The Boondocks named "A Pimp Named Slickback." You'd have to say his whole name every time. You are going to be more than welcomed here! Also, what kind of musician are you?

I make a couple different kinds of electronic music. Rap beats, trip-hop, and more nebulously-classified stuff. I'm a samplist, mostly. I sometimes use synthesizers as well though.

I have a bandcamp, if you are curious (pardon the poor Japanese of one of my EP's titles).

http://mojavemusic.bandcamp.com/

I sometimes sample anime themes, though less so than other things (I also have a sample I like to use that is taken from a dubbed episode of Serial Experiments Lain, which is a strong contender for my favorite series ever).
