All I know is that FUNIMATION licensed Hitman Reborn recently(I think it is last week) and I dunno what company licensed this new anime since June because wikipedia nor the Animenewsnetwork haven't stated yet who are the licensors of To Love Ru.

Anyone has an idea?

I think it's probably just the japanese creators made a complaint, and that was the only excuse Shinji had to remove it. Or he COULD have got a letter from FUNimation, because sometimes they send out letters for shows on behalf of the companies, then license them later.

If FUNi sent a C&D on TBS's behalf, It may show that FUNi might have a vested interest in To LOVE-Ru or shinji just wanted to cover CR's butt.

Yeah. Also, remember FUNi sent C&D letters for shows on other companies behalfs, and ended up licensing the shows later. An example of this would be Romeo x Juliet.

Either that or shinji could predict a C&D letter coming.

XEBEC's parent Co. is Production I.G.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xebec_(studio)
XEBEC shows a English copyright on the bottom of there Japanese To LOVE Ru webpages.
http://www.xebec-inc.co.jp/anime/toloveru/episode23.html

Production I.G. has an office in Los Angeles,Ca
http://www.production-ig.com/contents/about_us/01_/index.html

Affiliate Companies:
XEBEC Inc.
Mag Garden Corporation
Production I.G., LLC (Los Angeles, CA)

My theory is that XEBEC has gotten To LOVE Ru Copyrighted in the U.S. at the Production I.G. L.A. Office and are getting VEOH,youtube, crunchyroll etc. to remove the anime from there websites.
