America is nothing special. It is the individual live there who make America a great land. I value you them, not the mass of soil and rock itself Also, the idea that falls with it. Therefore, I am happy to laugh about it. As long as people don't get to seriously slandering it I don't care. Even if they do slander it, people are allowed to have and express their opinions as far as I'm concerned.

I’m sorry to annoy you so much, my youthful friend who’s user name is not under her avatar. (By the by are you really twelve? You’re pretty mature for 12.)

In any case, that’s a clash in opinion. I personally feel that people shouldn’t take the image of America that seriously. I may be repeating myself, but The name and image itself is just a way to get said masses to work in teamwork, or compete against one another.

I feel the ultimate goal of America, (in the eyes of the founders anyway.) was to create a good, safe, secure, discrimination free, happy place to live freely. Part of being happy is, I think, being amused. Hints the funny attempt. I also think another part of it is being mature. Without maturity people cannot live harmoniously in unity, we cannot work in unison. (As we should be doing not as a race or character of nationality, but as Humankind.)

As you grow old you will, most likely, come to learn that laughing at yourself is both healthy and agreeable. I’m only a kid myself, at 16, but I’ve traveled through Europe. In my personal experience what gives America such a bad name is the fact that we are quick to point out our strong points, but then get mad if anyone notes our less favorable attributes. (Not that every individual in America has the same bad characteristics.)

You can even joke about things that are right, if you do so sagaciously. (I’m a very religious Christian, but I tell jokes about Jesus.) The idea is to play devils advocate and get a laugh without suggesting that the joke is necessarily a judgment on its subject. I said America waste money in my joke, that does not in any way translate to America is a bad nation.

Also, I did mention good attributes. Like Bill Gates and the fact that we are a world power after only a short period. (As America is a very young nation when you look at it from a historical point of view.)

Anywho… Srry to rant. And yes, when I start a thread I read -all- the posts just like a talk show host! Or a nerdy albino with a great deal of free time. No, man, I skim through posts an get their central theme. If I going to comment on them I go through and read the whole thing.

Don't get me wrong, no offense meant by the talk show host. It was my way of complimenting your throughness, as well as getting people to relax more about the topic.

And 1917, I understand it's pretty unpleasant. Tourists from America I met lately were all complaining to me about being charged ridiculous prices for a drink. well, it's just a hot topic right now.

Yeah, overcharging is a common issue - it's really frustrating because if you argue it then you're automatically thought of as a rude American.

One of the things that has happened to me was when I was in London some Italian tourist began yelling at me about how all Americans are rude, stupid and self-centered when I bumped into him as I let a short old lady in front of me because I noticed she kept getting smooshed by the crowd. He wasn't worth arguing with so I just left, but he was so unbelievably mean that as soon as I turned my back I started to cry. Bah.

And SeraphAlford I wasn't saying that you were annoying me and that I don't believe humor is appropriate for this topic. What I meant was that most of the humor is unproductive and repetitive and therefore aggravating to me. If citizens of America see a need for change in their country then they should become proactive instead of just sitting around complaining... or uselessly joking. Don't bother speaking empty words. Don't say anything if you're not willing to do anything towards positive change.

I'm not meaning to sound mean if that's how I'm coming across by the way...

Edit: Is this all off-topic? Sorry. >.>;

You guys are still bickering about this? You know what you should have said to that italian mofo? You shoulda said sorry my country doesnt Surrender to Invaders. That would have shut him up. The way I see it if someone starts complaining to you because people from your country are rude and stupid and what not well they should really look in the mirror. Obviousley they don't know much and they are ignorant people. What does he know about YOU as a person. A country doesn't make a person a person makes a country. (that sounded almost intellegent )

oh well, Italians, I'm not even american and when I was in italy people would just turn their backs on me if I dared to talk to them in english. I guess they're kinda stupid and rude:P
still it's best not to take those things all too seriously, political and cultural issues are kinda dry and people tend to get all frustrated about them, which is natural, but that's exactly why a little humor helps cooling off. Anyone else noticed italians hate americans?

Then we did a study that spent another myriad of dollars on a study that said that mass scale statistical studies are a waste of money…

Yet for all this, we stupid Americans, have the richest woman in the world. We also have Bill gates, who owns the world, and one of the world’s most stable economical system in all history. before we get the urge to start a war, we should start our blood boiling by killing JJT2 first. We can't start a war without our hands getting soiled and bloody. Hmm.... JJT2's blood and intestines. hmmm.... kill, kill, kill, kill him first.
raw is war

We also like to tell everyone to do something about Global warming. Telling almost everyone not to make it more worse.
Come to think of it, Hollywood still makes a lot of action/horror/suspense movies and tons and tons of BIG EXPLOSIONS. Sad isn't it?

After a hardworking day, people deserves a break to relax and be entertain. Be free from stress they get from work, family, obligations, etc, even for a little while.
However, what do they find as they open their tvs? Tv shows that are so dramatic and so real-life based. Shows that just make them remind of the stress they already have.
You barely witness/catch any shows for a whole family to get together and watch on tv.

It's more shows of boohoo this, boohoo that. Shows of artists getting cocky after selling an album for a year.

It's a blah.

Tons of commercials in between shows are not a good help either.

I think what you Americans need are jobs. Now that most jobs are outsourced to keep up with the recession, you'll have problems finding one someday.

Yet for all this, we stupid Americans, have the richest woman in the world.

Oh and what's the use of having one? Do you load her to a cannon and launch her as a missile?

We also have Bill gates, who owns the world,

Oh really? He can't buy me though, which makes me a very rare commodity.

and one of the world’s most stable economical system in all history.

With the recession you still consider the system stable? Remember the depression? It will happen sooner or later.

In a few hundred years we’ve become a world power, something that took everyone else like… thousands of years…

Do you really read history books to prove that claim?

How fun. I guess the moral is this: Don’t underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.

Right, I’m stupid. And yet you’re the one asking me, “after the recession you still think it’s stable,” when the post was made long before the recession started. Kudos for contributing to the disease.

I do need to quote your words again,

and one of the world’s most stable economical system in all history.

After you've said this rather inaccurate claim from history, I was compelled to ask that "after the recession you still think it’s stable?" Do you think that America in the 1930's didn't experience a similar economical instability like today which gone much worse called " the depression"? Do you think that economies like America are always stable and impervious to an economic crisis? Even in every business and industry there is no such thing as a guarantee that a product can be sold and gain a profit, then why did you think that America's economy is not the same? Do you think that America's economy is stable even when businesses are going down the drain?

What I've asked was "will you still think that America's economy was the most stable in all of history after the recession?" You didn't even considered the 1930's depression. Even though you're post was before the recession, I just want to ask you in a sense like "what if the recession did happen again" coz you can't avoid such a crisis. There is no such thing as a country that was prosperous forever like the one you claim. There was and always will have a cycle of profit and non-profit, rise and fall. As the saying goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall, and with such a big ego like yours, when America's economy falls, you will suffer the worst.

That's what I hate w/ you Americans, you're unprepared mentally, emotionally and financially to the bad times to come. You just love to live at the past when America was always #1. You always think that America will not do badly at their economy, that prosperity is guaranteed forever!! If you want America to remain #1, then act like one!!! Don't blabber stupid claims to satisfy your own ego in the expense of others!!!

Kudos for making me clarify how more stupid you are for not getting my question.
