Why don't you read? Or are you just being purposefully argumentative? You made an accidental slip-up, the forum is asking about grammar and spelling, I made use of it to highlight the point that I do care about grammar and spelling.

It was not a dig at you. I do not do it as a rule of thumb, because unless someone has asked me to proof their work, it's usually offensive. The reason I did do it was for irony's sake.

Once more for clarity: Do not take it so seriously-- it was not meant as a serious thing.

Hmm, maybe because they're called emoticons, and they're there to help indicate important parts of communication that is generally lacking in written text: tone. And no, I didn't choose the lol face because that would make it seem like I was laughing at you. I didn't think it would need this much explaining, really. Yes, I know they're from wikipedia, but it does help to back me up here. This is general consensus. What you're saying is that you're the odd one out in your belief on the use of emoticons, and there's no way I can argue against you making things up.

From what I've read, you seem to have your own rigid idea of what is "right" and "wrong", so nothing I can say is going to budge you on that. I have little interest in people who are unwilling, or unable, to show flexibility, or admit they might have been mistaken.

No, I'm not. If you consider that I wasn't actually being serious when I pointed out your slip-up, it doesn't mean I'm contradicting myself at all. You just happened to be on the same page and just happened to make a not-so-fortunate slip up. If you hadn't done it, I would have found someone else who had to make my point.

I'm usually the one correcting the spelling and grammar, but that's only if it's really bad.
It's one of those things that just annoys me.
It's not that hard to type out full words and check your spelling/grammar.
It makes it a whole lot easier for everybody to understand.

I get annoyed when they fix people's spelling. Like if someone did it to me I would get really mad since I am not the best at spelling. If they don't use correct grammar or spelling I dont really mind unless it doesnt look like English and doesnt make any sense at all. Like they just typed and never read it. The most annoying thing is people typing like THIS ALL THE TIME or ThIs AlL tHe TiMe. -.-

depends on my mood. xD but well, I got no problem with people correcting my spelling.. it's also a way for me to learn in some way. so it's alright... but well, if that person doesnt care about what I'm talking about and just try to look for my fault.. then that person is a piss off for me...
