I don't mind being called cute by a girl, although guys beware: "cute" can be used in a derogatory way. As in "you're adorable but not worth my time."
Most of the time though, it's girls who are a bit shy and want to give a compliment to a guy they're interested in using a word that they can play off as being "harmless" and not play their entire hand. |

You nailed it. But I guess I call most guys I find attractive "cute" |

They tend to refer to guys they find attractive as "cute" or "hot." |

Depends on context. If you mean cute as in physically attractive then no sane guy will decide he dislikes that, but if you mean cute, like innocent and vunrable looking (see puppies and babies) then some men will see it as a insult to their manlyness. I hate gender roles so I really dont care.

If you're younger than say 16/17, guys don't have a problem with it. Older than that and it needs to change. Cute is a term used for something being adorable. A 16/17 year old guy isn't 'cute', his actions, maybe, but not him personally. Just how I see it =/ I'm a 21 year old woman and get called cute. It's not too much of a bother, but I honestly wish people would use a different word than 'cute' for me.
