This thread is to talk about Hong Kong in general.
__________________________________________________________________ I'm gonna be staying there for a few months in the summer hopefully, and I thought I'd get people's advice on where to go and what to do. |

I've been there a lot of times. Nothing special. But there's more stuff now since they are trying to make it more tourist friendly.

i ben there for a lil while.
its hot and humid so thats a downfall, but they got air conditionin eveyrwhere u turn. also tons of malls, most malls i ever seen in a city. |

I've been a few times and I have a few friends/relatives who live there.
Pros: Good food, shopping, food, very alive city, good public transport, food. Cons: Pretty polluted and can be really hot (luckily there's ac everywhere as chewy mentioned, even on buses). |

Goto ocean park, i heard that disneyland there is boring and small.. when you goto hong kong, remember to EAT EAT EAT!! LOL theres lots of beauty food there, ive try some, it was yum yum yum... btw shopping i suggest you to do that in HK, and when your walking down the street, check out if any TVB stars or singer is walking by, if your lucky to get a autograph =D

been there twice last dec 2005 and dec 2006. i enjoyed during my stay there. tourist attractions are ocean park, disneyland, avenue of stars (to witness symphony of lights) and victoria peak. if you love shopping, hong kong is the right place. all items are tax-free so they're cheaper.
i also enjoy the food! :) the only problem in this place is language barrier. some of the HK residents dont know how to understand or speak english. btw, macau is near hong kong. you can go there by ferry. |
|
busy as always...

i went to ocean park and it was really good and #1 must do yum cha

Thanks for the advice guys, i think i'll check out vicoria peak, but i'll stay away from the commercial tourist attractions like Ocean park. By the way, I love HK tea and its the best in the world, but its so hard to find here in North America.

yeah xDDD i haven't been to hong kong yet but you can easily catch a tvb star filming a drama/series cos hong kong's so small:( i wish i could go. but i can't! =;( my mom said there's even little vents on the ground where cold air comes blowing out. sorta like a street a.c LOLS or was it somewhere else....
the only problem in this place is language barrier. some of the HK residents dont know how to understand or speak english. i thought they could speak english. most people do know english in hong kong since it use to be controlled by the british. ehhs i donno. |

went last summer. Really fun. went to the arcades alot when u converted canadian currency to hong kong dollars the games there were 30 cents canadian. The malls arent that great though find it really boring. Really hot though. i cant remember what its called but at like 9 or 10 pm when the street vendors open is the best. Thats when all the good stuff comes out. Also dont forget to bargain

I wanna go....I hear they have huge acid box(s) around almost every block so u can put the dead 1 foot rats in there......stories i hear from my dad back in his days...but i hear those are still around....man that would be something to see....>_< 1 foot rodents...so crazy..think that is without the tail.
naw..i'd like to go there to see what its all about since i dont travel a lot. It may be nothing, but it certainly is a different lifestyle than what i am experiencing now. Anything new i can learn and experience i am up for it. I mean..hey..my dad grew up in the ghetto's in HK and he still is ghetto in his own ways....=P |
