Why is it there are more rich boy-poor girl dramas/movies compared to poor boy-rich girl dramas/movies?

My "theory" is that, it is seeped in tradition. That is, as head of the family, the husband is the provider for his family.

Personally, what do you prefer in dramas/movies? why?

i think its just sucha classic plot. people like to see couples overcome traditions and break rules all for the sake of love. you know, things that don't regularly happen in real life. =P

Yeah the first is overly done. A rich girl and a poor guy. I'd like to see more of.
The only drama that comes to mind is Couple or Fantasy o.o.

wow i just notice that even after watching so much drama and movies
but with that plot it gets more interesting since many out come and struggles could be a possibility

i agree..
i think it also has something to do with
the influence of fairytales...
where poor girls are destined to meet thier PRINCE...
like cinderella...
hehe..but i find it romantic...

its standard it doesnt have the bigger effect as poor girl and rich guy

i guess with money the guy has more possibilities to make the girl happy conquer her heart with charms and romantic things which is the goal of the story most of the time

I prefer rich boy/poor girl plot. It just carries on the traditional fairytale storyline of the prince rescuing the damsel in distress using his wealth, position and code of honor, and they live happily ever after!

i guess it is more romantic in that way... it would not be much of a plot if it is rich girl/ poor boy.. it captures the heart of the audiance when the guy forsakes his wealth and family's rules and tradition to be the girl he loves... but of coz there plots where it is the opposite the rich girl sacrifice everything she has...
As for me i prefer the poor girl/ rich boy plot.. ^^

In movies and dramas its usually rich boy /poor girl and the flow of the drama is sometimes predictable but I still watch it cause its really romantic !!!

because usually girls watch drama and must girls want a rich boyfriend/ husband , but if more guy were to openly watch drama then things would probably be different

All of these dramas are written for a female audience, and girls love the "knight in shining armor concept." Its just the classic Cinderella story.
