Wrong section -_-

I'd expect they work together with different people to first find out what kind of music they want. Then they contact certain 'companies' and have some sort of audition or, base their decision on the companies previous products.

... Shouldn't be too hard to understand.

The writer of the music get the money too??

He'd get pay for his job and nothing else.

Ack! Common sense, where art thou?

When the song is 'bought' by the company/artist/band/whatever, the writer has no more rights to it hence they'll only end up in the credit section...

Besides, you dont need fame when you have money....

the anime writer looks for a song that suits the anime and, if it's not already taken attempts to make a deal with the song writer, some animes go through many songs before they find one that works and they can use legally

Sometimes the songs are sung by one or more of the seiyuus (people who voice the characters)...contracts, themes, the company that produces the anime because they might have ties with bands/artist...
