can somebody explain what the hell is DESU???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

desu, is just an ending to a sentence. it doesn't mean particularly anything, its just how you're suppose to speak. like "watashi no namae wa rin desu." My name is Rin. and another example is "Ananta no namae wa nan desuka?" What's your name? It usually used in polite speech.

As for itadakimasu, it literally means I'll receive. They usually use this before eating, which would mean "Thanks for the food."

actually desu means it exists or there is. desu ka refers to the other person. (the u in desu is usually silent)

example:

person A: dajoubu wa desu ka?
(wa refers to main subject which is the other person)

person B: dajoubu desu.

Desu is just something you can say after a sentence. Like De-gozaru, Ne, etc.

Desu

Desu is a Japanese copula (a word used to link the subject of a sentence with a predicate).
English copulas include "to be", "to become", "to get", "to feel", and "to seem".

Desu in Japanese is polite speech (da is more informal). It's difficult to explain the sentence structure in a simple post.

Here is one example:

あれはホテルだ。
Are wa hoteru da.
"That's a hotel."

あれはホテルです。
Are wa hoteru desu.
"That is a hotel."

That doesn't mean anything. I think they just made fun of Archer's spell from Fate/Stay Night.

uhhh actually that's suiseiseki people call her the origin of desu.

It rocks XP

desu is a polite way to end a sentence but rarely used a lot of every sentence
