It was a great, happy time.

From when I was born until I was 5, we were financially lucky, so I was brought up by my grandmother, my parents were too busy working to take care of me.

Then we immigrated to Canada and were stuck in a relatively poor district. It was great because my parents ran a convenience store that was next to our apartment building, so I could always go there and see my parents, play outside. At that time, my parents rarely fought and were all lovey-dovey. To me a small gift would represent as much as a blessing. It was so easy to be happy. Even tough I didn't know how to speak French at first, I learned under a year and was the top student in first grade

But then, they started getting new jobs and getting older.
Now they always fight and my mother is stressed out from her job, while my father is unsatisfied with his.
I changed school 7 times before going to this prestigious high-school I kind of hate (but it's okay, since I ace all my classes except P.E).
I have a big house and totally over-the-top things like a Nikon D80...because I wanted it bad (I "sacrificed" not buying new clothes...but I don't like shopping anyway).

If I had to choose between being rich and poor, I would choose to be poor and live that happy little childhood forever...but I can't say my average-to-wealthy life is miserable either.

Honestly, I grew up VERY poor, and I had the greatest childhood. We had very little food, and our heat and electricity was turned off alot, but if I had to do it all over, I'd do it just the same. I'm not poor now, but I'm not rich either. I am unable to provide fancy clothes and phones for my kids, but we are happy! To me, that's alot more important that having millions to spend. I like the fact that I have to work for the things that I want; I have more respect for life. I don't take things for granted and it's left me pretty humble.

Wow, I'm so glad to know that you're not bragging.
Honestly, what was the point of this thread? If you really want to know, go find out for yourself. But it's pretty obvious most of the stuff you just said is total nonsense. For going to "the best schools" how come you can't spell properly? What - can't afford a dictionary? I'm usually not this blunt, but it seriously bugs me when people just post to brag. I guess compared to you, I am poor. Or middle-class, whatever you want to call it.
But I've always been grateful for what I've had so it's kind of sad it took you 18 years realize you're "extremley" wealthy and lucky.

I've seen firsthand what poverty and desperation does to a person. Its a pathetic and pitiful thing to watch the old crawl away into whatever dark corners they can hide in, knowing full well that the government neither cares nor acknowledges their presence.

I've seen people sleeping on cardboard beds beneath busy highways and foraging through the garbage bins for cans and other recyclables to trade in for cash, or simply looking for scraps of food. I've seen men old enough to be my grandfather riding rusty bicycles and dragging behind them a mountain of flattened cardboard boxes and newspapers to make ends meet.

Poverty is a terrible, terrible thing but the worst part is the negligence of a government whose ministers earn over a million US dollars a year and whose Prime Minister earns well over US 3.7 million a year.
