Um what? I'm not really confused about anything, and I don't imply our flaws are great, I imply that there the reason were inferior to other animals...If I wrote that crap wrong then sorry, but I'm not reading over a internet forum post like its a essay I turn into class, I just don't care that much, and I'm not in a good mood right now.

So our ability to reason makes us inferior? Would you rather we be mindless zombies then?

If you don't care about what you are going to post, then please don't post at all. You are asking a question and expecting us to make a logical and reasonable opinion based on your question. The point of a forum post, especially like the one you are asking is to get straight to the point.

Back on topic, you better have a very good reason for preferring mindlessness to reason because I'm very sure many people would be willing to take up that argument.

Yes, are ability to reason makes us inferior, it is the cause of almost all problems in our society. Yes, if we were mindless zombies, we would be more efficient, and wouldn't care anyway, because were mindless.

I'm going to say you are a hedonist. You would prefer to simply escape all the problems of life.

Life is continuing struggle; unfair, uncompromising and unjust, but the point isn't to give up. Life is about experiences, making the best of what you have in spite of these ordeals. The fact that we can think and find peaceful solutions to certain problems is what makes a human great.

If you think animals are superior, I'm afraid you fail to realize that the law of the jungle is "absolute freedom"! One can kill without punishment or any repercussion. But animals are not mindless. Elephants mourn their dead and many poached animals suffer from trauma.

Your thinking is one that disgusts me.

I am a hedonist. There is no point of doing something unless it brings you some sort of pleasure in some way eventually. All of our actions ARE because we want some kind of pleasure. We go to school and suffer through that to get a good job, we want to get a good job because we want lots of money to enjoy ourselves, etc.

Also, it should be, not all animals are mindless.

I'm completely fine with that.

It brings people pleasure to help other people, and brings them pain to see them die. I would risk my life and possibly die for a person I love, because it would make me happy. You may not realize, but pleasure is derived from A LOT of things.

Totally subjective. I love it.
So have you thought about existentialism?

It's basically your your own God if I'm not mistaken.

Not really. It is more in the lines that you define your own existence.
Throw in some philosophy, some religion, some personal experiences, and viola, existentialism.
Everyone, in some degree, is within existentialism.

Thats what I meant, but I used a stupid choice of words.

I'm making my own thing, I'm going to be a awesomnist, awesomnist don't care about anything but being awesome, we live for the moment, and our slogan is "Live like a Kamikaze, no regrets, charging straight forward!!!!"

Everyone has the right to be stupid. Unfortunately, too many people abuse that privelege. They know who they are.

actually, pleasure is different from self-interest...there is a big difference between the two

to experience pleasure, must you not avoid pain? however, in the case of self-interest, you may or may not avoid pain....you may even compromise pleasure and indulge in a painful experience if you think you must (i.e. when it comes to your reputation, dignity, honor, responsibility, etc.)....

heroes should rather be considered egoists or altruists than hedonists....i think you shudnt generalize that all of us are hedonists...

No, because going through pain sometimes can bring you greater pleasure, pleasure can also be dirieved from pain from some people, and like I said before, A LOT of different things give you please.
