in my own perspective. I do agree, but because they are both soul reapers Rukia can't age. Now first for those who say what about Ichigo. Think of it like the Twilight series. They can stay together forever.

Ichigo X Rukia is a great couple that can be toghter. The bond with Orihime is more of a I love him, but he doesn't the same. Renji X Rukia is just a friendship thing, but they have a similar bond.

This whole shipping thing is downright annoying, but I'll admit that this is my favorite pairing. Yes Renji royally screwed up when Rukia was adopted by the Kuchiki clan, but I love me a good redemption story.
