Pro/Hardcore Gamers
Posted 8/24/08 , edited 8/25/08
How many people on CR are Pro or Hardcore gamers? How many people here make fun of pro/hardcore gamers? Have you ever noticed, when people suck at something your better then them at, and its not directly related to physically ability, they mock you for it? (Even though there doing it through a computer screen lololololololololololol)

Sense when did being a noob make gamers "hardcore" and making fun of people who play games over 8 hours a day (Who just from doing that, can easily make 250 thousand dollars a year, when they have skill.) become the thin thing?

And I have no clue if this is related, but why is EVERY OTHER GAMING THREAD on this site about Final Fantasy? Do people not realize there are TONS more RPG's out there? It really reminds me of that site where everybody played Halo almost, and they almost all ONLY played Halo....

And for the dude in Asia!

Pro Gamers = People who play games competitively, generally, but not always, hardcore gamers, and in some rare case's are noobs.

Hardcore gamers = The guy who can tell you the three games in the Chrono "series", and tell you why Earthbound rapes FF7, and/or tell you why he prefers the DOS days over now.

Pro noob = Some noob who plays Halo for money, but never played any other FPS in his life, and isn't even that good at Halo lololol.

Hardcore noob = People who worship mediocrity or play a ton of games, but they are almost all crappy or just the same crap.

Fanboys = They can be hardcore, but they won't recongize any game that isn't on there console of choice, and if its multiplatform, its always somehow better on there console of choice, and they have a odd love for a Cooperation that really doesn't give a crap about them. They can be pro, hardcore, or whatever, but there still lulznoobs.

Just a note, you don't HAVE to play games for a long period of time to be hardcore or pro, some of us do, but not ALL of us are able to.

Define 'your' point of view when it comes to Hardcore Pro Gaming or crap.
If I can tell, I can say that a person should be a Hardcore gamer if he can play a game straight for 12 hours+.
Pro Gaming would go in the category of World tournaments and something like that. It's kinda different, if you think about it.
Annyyyyway, I'm usually the Hardcore Gamer. I play a lot, and work a lot. I have to choose between both.

And holy crap, they make fun of Hardcore Gamers? Here in Asia, people worship these "hardcore gamers".
I'm done explaining things for now.

You do realize, most Pro gamers are hardcore gamers, and play a ton of different games. Generally, hardcore people are better gamers and therefore can play the games the best so enter tournaments.

Im just a casual gamer and only play games when I have time on my hand... I can also say that my gaming skills aren't that bad either... But, yeah, if gaming can net me that much money, then I dont mind going pro, or something like that...

To actually play FTW for money, you have to stop having fun and study the game like its the book War & Peace, for most people this is not fun, but for some reason a select few of people enjoy it and do it.

I make money playing video games, worship me.

Once again, its VERY hard to play at a pro level without saying screw it and getting a real job. You either have to have a weird taste for being the best and enjoy not doing anything fun in a game and sometimes even being forced to play it when you don''t want to, or just so naturally good at the shit that you don't have to worry, in which you probably still won't make as much as the latter.

Hardcore gamers are scary x] It's like they know everything. I don't think I want to be a pro gamer or a hardcore gamer. Hardcore gamers ... to time consuming (although I do play RPG's). Pro gamers ..eh ... just don't want to be a pro gamer. Rather get money some other way. =\

Lol, I play games mostly doing challenge[hardest difficulty, speed run, ---- only challenge and stuff like that] and kill secret bosses, well, I bet it doesn't count to being pro... I've been seen re playing games over and over again, but if Pro gaming requires me to play games I dont like[i.e. dating sims or the Sims for that matter] then maybe I'd quit outright, haha... I never said it was going to be an easy job in the first place, no good paying job is...

But, the idea of getting payed for playing is just too good to pass up... Gaming has been one of my main addictions but sadly I also have to balance gaming/online life with my social one... So, pro gaming is just really a dream for me...

Lol what I meant was, you have to play CS:S even if you don't feel like it. But yeah, speed runs, secret bosses and stuff like that, can net you serious side cash. They have sites where people pay people to totally destroy there favorite games and do things they think its impossible. So yeah, doing stuff like speed runs and challenges are pro, and hardcore.

I think your a hardcore gamer, playing games for 20 hours a day doesn't make you hardcore just like playing them 5 hours a week doesn't

Lol, no wonder people pay you for doing those stuffs as it requires planning and anything of that sort[time waster]... I usually finish many of those challenge in a months time or more... yep, im a pretty slow, yet dedicated gamer...
