They'll always be around... only problem is that people are already running out of ideas, except for minor alterations (sure there are exceptions, but common practice has been "see if other guy is successful and if he is steal his stuff, scratch the serial number, pimp it up a little and sell the product as your own" and will most likely remain the same for years to come).

Games will always be a part of human culture, the only things that change are the media & the games themselves.

Sort of hoping I'm still alive (doubtful though it be) when true V.R style games are around. Why play as an X in a game, when you can BE the X?

Yeah that is true Methos12 Other gaming companies will just take an orginal game flaws an remake it over and completely better, but there will be less original games out in the future because ppl r running out of ideas..........And there r alot of games that should be remade.

Or game companies can do what nintendo does and just release the same game over and over again in a different setting.

Yeah well, Nintendo's a special case (I don't think ANYONE else can pull that off beside Nintendo)... only problem is that constant repetition brings boredom along with it and today's gamers are a whimsical bunch.

they'll be around...pretty soon, today's game makers will probably die & new game makers (with fresh stories in their head) will take their place, and the cycle repeats itself again.....

not to mention that better technology will most likely bring better graphics, etc....

Nintendo will probably continue milking their stuff. (Pokemon's future: even MORE pokemon?! :O Is that even possible?)

Things will get milked & new things that deserve to get milked will come up....

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/158631 watch the three episode series called the "Decline of Video Gaming"
I think it will help sort out your thoughts on the future of video gaming as it did mine.

Did people run out of ideas for books, musicals, or movies? Nope! So why should we be worried about people running out of ideas for games?!?!? In fact, do to the extra "aspects" video games have, it is LESS likely people will run out of ideas for games than they would for other mediums.

When I start making my games, I'm going to destroy the industry with innovation! But until then, let me finish my programing homework

We should worry because people have already run out of idea's for movies, which is why you see the same concepts repeated over and over, and in stories the same concepts are repeated over and over, until a certain era when somebody finally decides its time to burn the box and piss on it.
