It's terrible. Almost every storyline revolves around rape = love. And yaoi hands. And the bad, predictable characters/stories. Not to mention the fangirls ruin the whole fanbase.

I think it's pretty predictable what people will say in this thread: most fanboys will hate on it, most fangirls will love on it.
A little off topic, but it makes me mad when people classify something as yaoi when it's NOT. It happens a lot on some sites like ebay, and akadot even. I see series I've read, and I know they are not even what I'd call shounen-ai, but they are listed as "Title (Yaoi)". I don't know if it's to be super-safe and indicate that the cast is at least 95% male, and if you're a subtext hound you'll surely be offended by something. Or if it's to lure in fangirls, and make them think they're buying authentic yaoi when they're actually not.
Also in anime databases that are user-edited. Some readers/viewers will voluntarily tag something as yaoi just because 2 guys in it hugged once.

I always knew about yaoi/BL/Shounen-ai but I never really tried it out. But this year my best friend got me into it by introducing me to Hetalia shipping. Now I love it all! Especially if they're both masculine. Yuri is okay I've only just started to get into it, its a tad boring though.

For me, yaoi, both manga & anime, are awsome and cute.
But I have to admite that "yourethebaka" got it right, 'cuz most of them have at least one rape scene (or a struggle for not been rape) but u can take it as a symbolism. Generally the storyline and the plot has some issues or topics that makes them so interesting such as religion, moral points of view, culture, etc. But the most important is the characters, they are really cute, handsome, atractive and gripping.
I love Yaoi, Shounen Ai, and some Shotacon (like Boku no Pico). :vicx:

Yaoi manga are okay with me. It's not too bad and I think most of them are rather sweet. I sometimes pair a guy with another guy in most anime I have seen or have try to watch. XD I don't mind any type of genres as I always try to keep an open mind on everything that I come across. Yuri is okay to me, a little boring since I don't normally see much anime that gives enough hints of girl pairings. I mostly got into Yaoi/Shounen-ai due to the one "kiss" scene from the anime Naruto in where Naruto and Sasuke shared that one kiss........ Add FFN to it and that's how I got into the generally love for it.
Many people don't generally care for Yaoi or Yuri which I can understand as it's a hard topic to discuss about openly and online. So people hate, some don't, some just don't care which I respect of course. Everyone has their own opinions on things that they come across and I respect those opinions as any other would.
