That movie was based off a book. Mel Gibson's character was based off the author of the book. The guy knew we never should have been over there, but wanted to make sure his battalion survived.

I'm against any war, but if you want to go by kill count, America did kick their ass. It was politics that "lost" us that war, a war we never should have been in, in the first place.

I think that you have an ax to grind with America. None of us were around during Vietnam, so it's just all hear say and stories. If you're worried about the Olympics and medals, then, wow....You have way too much time on your hands.

The AMERICAN stiring and proving power in war also supreme. So let tell USA WE KNOW UR NUCLEAR CAN KILL US AND YOU'RE STRONG THAN SOVIET UNION SO STOP MAKING WAR BETWEEN YOU OR CONFLICT OTHER COUNTRY LIKE KOREA. You're the best can HAPPY HAPPY?

No. It had nothing to do with national pride. It was just facts. I'm anti-war, and people need to quit jumping to conclusions.

Too bad their final decision to conduct is not a civilized attitude. The country may share of diplomatically person and those who not. They fails to choose the rights choice, feign ignorance is not an excuse for politics and war.

The outcome won't be forgotten even is you're a kind American.

No offense, dude. I know that you're from another country, but I can barely make out what you're trying to say from those fragmented sentences.

Did they not make a movie related to the Vietnam war (I think it was with Mel Gibson)? The movie ended with the US winning. =_=

The movie was completely biased. It mostly shows the victory side of americans and all background music showing how heroic the americans were.

when you ask an american who won the vietman war most of them would say "we did" because they watched a freaking american movie

That is what they are teaching their children (not necessarily that they won the war(they did not), but the idea of America being always the winner, which is bad, it's not too much patriotism, it's stupidity). It is really sad, especially when you hear them talking and boasting about their success, which didnt happen.

I know what movie your talking about its called "We Were Soldiers" but what was won was just the battle for that little area. Movie took place during the very beginning of the war, just because you started winning in the beginning doesn't mean your going to have the same outcome at the end.

---------------------

Media aside, I can guarantee you a month or two from now, a bulk of the US population will have forgotten all about the Olympics. Its one of those things where everyone (or at least a decent amount) are really interested and follow what happens but after its over they've already have moved onto something else.

No biggie to me. It's only sports and so-called nationalistic pride. I'm a US citizen, but I also root for Japan since it's the country of my roots. To me, the Olympics are about the athletes and the stories their victories and defeats tell. They don't have to be from the US or even win or medal, they just have to have an interesting story that we can all relate to.

Yea, the US is being biased. We're the only ones that do the total medal count. Still, the best thing to do is the weighted value, gold-3 points, silver-2 points, bronze- 1 point. In that system, China still wins by like 3 points lol.

But dude, you getting so worked up about this is stupid and pointless.

1. What's your complaining going to do? Is the American media going to be intimidated and change the table? Do people even care that much?
2. It's really not that big of a deal. The rest of the world recognizes China as the winner. And what does it really matter if China is the winner? Nobody's going to go around saying "this country's the best" or "all hail this country." Also, in a couple of months, most people will forget the count.

Just get over it.

He did win, by one one-hundredths of a second. That's the closest you can get. And Americans didn't even do the timing, so you're pretty much spitting nonsense.
