Oi vhea... another US hater -__-

There isn't an overall winner for the Olympics so why are you making a big deal of this? Not all Americans are like the media. Not to mention that it isn't just the American media who are biased- all news stations in every country is that way :\

But if ranking is such a big deal then I'd rather that instead of medal counting it should be tallied up by using different points for the different medal- like gold is 3 points and silver is 2 and bronze is 1... like how other people are suggesting

That movie was based off a book. Mel Gibson's character was based off the author of the book. The guy knew we never should have been over there, but wanted to make sure his battalion survived.

I'm against any war, but if you want to go by kill count, America did kick their ass. It was politics that "lost" us that war, a war we never should have been in, in the first place.

I think that you have an ax to grind with America. None of us were around during Vietnam, so it's just all hear say and stories. If you're worried about the Olympics and medals, then, wow....You have way too much time on your hands.

The AMERICAN stiring and proving power in war also supreme. So let tell USA WE KNOW UR NUCLEAR CAN KILL US AND YOU'RE STRONG THAN SOVIET UNION SO STOP MAKING WAR BETWEEN YOU OR CONFLICT OTHER COUNTRY LIKE KOREA. You're the best can HAPPY HAPPY?

No. It had nothing to do with national pride. It was just facts. I'm anti-war, and people need to quit jumping to conclusions.

Too bad their final decision to conduct is not a civilized attitude. The country may share of diplomatically person and those who not. They fails to choose the rights choice, feign ignorance is not an excuse for politics and war.

The outcome won't be forgotten even is you're a kind American.

ROFL That is either the most broken English I have ever seen, or I'm just the most illiterate person ever.

@mauz15

Isn't ABC an American news agency?

*edit* I guess it's also an Australian news agency.

And from what I've seen U.S. has always put total amount of medals vs. total amount of gold like in 2006 Winter olympics.
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/torino2006/medals
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/olympics/2006/medals/tracker/

Here's an older rating back in 1998 medal count
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/olympics/2002/medalcount/1994/

Notice that Austria is higher with only 3 gold's compared to United States with 6.

It is possible, however, it is probably this one
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Broadcasting_Corporation

or this one but it is less likely
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABC_(Swedish_news_programme)

I did not made that picture. If you ignore the caption is clearly evident that most of the American media does not follow the standards of the non-American ones. If the ABC in that picture means the American one then that means they did not fall into this, good for them.

Gah wasn't able to edit my post before you responded!
Anyways U.S. has always ranked total higher than gold from the examples I could look up from news agencies, no idea why though.

........All that matters to me is that Kobe Bryant and Lebron James have gold medals....and the other international basketball players don't.......so

Oh wow

Yes, it's true! We count overall medals (which the US wins) instead of overall gold medals (which China wins). I wouldn't say it's "cheatting" but how about we just keep this in record books or something instead of getting mad about it... sheesh.
