The koran

Should the koran, just like "mein Kampf"(a book by hitler), be forbidden?

What's your reasoning for that? Zealots and radicals hate Western society, so you blame their Holy book which a lot of liberal and moderate Muslims (myself included) consider our equivalent to The Bible?

I didn't give my opinion, I only asked a question.

read the text on the side of the video, 'successful troll is successful'.
Me, I'm not going to bother arguing over propagated stereotypes. Especially over a fascist prick like Geert Wilders. The opinions of a racist, fascist right winger isn't worth a rat's ass to me. Hitler was one too, you know.

I think the koran shouldn't be forbidden, but (for example) my brother thinks it should.
but it's an interesting point you make, by linking Wilders to Hitler.

A fascist right wing European makes his judgment on the Quran based on his judgment of fascist right wing Islamic radicals. any sane human being would look at both sides of the argument lol
I'm more of a moderate by nature. I believe that all right wings could do a lot better praying instead of bashing at each other. Religion is a personal matter between you and God. If you're an atheist, religion is someone else's problem. either way, it's not something you need to drag through the mud at every opportunity you get...

true, but every religion's got fundamentalists. In the 21st century, we got the dubious distinction of having more than our fair share, and the media and right wing politicians stereotype the rest of as evil as a consequence.
Just the idea of me burning effigies or abandoning my ideals is ludicrous I'm a moderate. I have never taken the radical route neither do I compromise on my ethics and religion.

No...and the Koran is far from the insipid and racist crap that is Mein Kamph. It doesn't tell you to treat women like "shit" either. Idiots just interpret it that way, and the Islamic authorities do nothing to stop it, because they don't care and think women are worth shit too.

Most holy books are basically commands anyway, even the Bible.

EDIT: I am Christian. I just don't support religion bashing, unless you're bashing Satanism or something.

I'm not bashing anything. I was just telling it how it is. The Muslim people DO treat their woman like crap, and I have done research on the Koran. It is just a bunch of commands. And if you were a Christian, then you would know that no other book is holy. Only the Bible because it is the word of God. And you would also know that the Bible just doesn't tell you commands. In fact, the Bible only has 10 commands. Hence the 10 Commandments. ^^

I was using the term "holy book" as a label "in general" sort of thing (you are right on that point though, although athiests wouldn't agree with me on that one ^^;). And not ALL Muslim people treat their women like crap (I don't think that's what you're saying, but still.) Also, by commands, I was also referring to telling you how to live your life, but I didn't really make that clear, and I apologize.

No, it shouldn't be banned. People should have the right to choose whatever man-written book they want to put on their holy pedestal. It's just a bunch of paper bound together, it doesn't hurt anyone. Just because there are crazy people who follow it and misinterpret it to make it seem "evil," doesn't mean that it is (people did and still do the same thing with the Bible).

I didn't see the video, but I have a feeling that it's just a bunch of ignorant religion-bashing.

religion should be given / sold like cigarettes (at age 18).
when the person is basically mature enough to make up her/his own mind.

How would parents answer the typical little kids questions like "where did everything come from?" or "what happens when we die?" No matter what answer they give, they'll be influencing their kids to lean towards one religion or another. If they don't give their kids an answer, they'll get one from one of their friends, or maybe some article on the internet they happen to come by. When it comes to subjective matters like religion, people will tend to stick with whatever they hear first, or what they hear most often. So even if they can't "officially" join a religion until they're 18, they'll most likely practice whatever one their parents follow, or that a majority of adults around them follow.

Also, there are people under 18 who are mature enough to choose what they want to believe, and there's people over 18 who aren't.
