"Korean Artists Se7en, BoA, The Wonder Girls, and Japanese artist Utada Hikaru have a half page feature in the April 20th Edition of People Magazine.The feature is titled, "Coming To America... Asian Pop Stars." It's not too detailed, only giving a snippet of info about the artists, but still, it's pretty cool that they're in People Magazine. "Three Korean pop stars featured in People Magazine,"
Sunday April 12, 2009 Korea    An article titled "Coming to America…Asian Pop Stars" in the latest edition of People magazine featured four Asian celebrities who have been making an impact on the American music industry. Equally interesting is the fact that three of the four stars featured in this article are of Korean decent. The Korean celebrities, Se7en, BoA, and the Wonder Girls are all immensely popular in the Republic of Korea and are at the top of pop culture in Asia. Furthermore, this article displays that Korean music, commonly referred to as "K-Pop," is becoming more mainstream, gaining a global listening audience. The article also shows an increasing awareness and respect for Asian music, as it is being presented as a viable trend in the music industry that is gaining real popularity instead of an exotic showcase with only minimal staying power. Out of the four stars in the article, Se7en is the only male component. Since his debut in 2003, Se7en has skyrocketed in popularity traveling all over Asia to countries such as Thailand, Japan, China, and Taiwan. He has also given numerous concerts in North America at prestigious venues such as the Grand Olympic and Hollywood Bowl, located in Los Angeles, and Madison Square Garden in New York City. Se7en is known equally for his voice and his dance moves as all of his concerts and music videos feature the singer engaging in what can be called a "freestyle hip-hop." Se7en has just recently made his entrance into the American scene with his release of the single “Girls” featuring Lil'Kim and produced by Rodney Jerkins. BoA, which stands for Beat of Angel, is thought of in Asia as the rough equivalent of Britney Spears. She stepped onto the U.S. music scene with her debut of the single "Eat You Up" featuring Flo Rida and her Album BoA on March 17th, 2009. “Eat You Up" quickly climbed to the number one spot on the "Hot Dance Club Party" chart. BoA has sited hip-hop as her main inspiration but stated that she also enjoys music by Michael Jackson, Nelly, Britney Spears, Brian McKnight, and Janet Jackson. BoA has gained wide popularity in Asia, topping charts in Japan, Korea, and China. As she moves into the U.S. scene her new image of a "sexy" instead of "youthful" is expected to be a positive switch for the American market. If one visits Korea, it is hard to go far without hearing a Wonder Girls song. With songs such as "Tell Me," "So Hot," and "Nobody" the Wonder Girls have consistently topped the Korean charts and have secured a huge fan base. Described as the Korean version of the Spice Girls, the wonder girls truly are a pop band for young girls, with every member under 21. Having only begun as an official group in mid-2007 the Wonder Girls have had an astronomical year in 2008, taking off in popularity. Due to their enormous success in Korea the Wonder Girls launched their international tour on Feb. 28, 2009 which took them to Thailand and various locations in the U.S. Korea.Net |

15 Apr 2009 - 03:10 AM  There are only a few more days till Se7en is in Atlanta and everyone here at allkpop is extremely excited. Se7en will be performing LIVE at the Velvet Room this Saturday on April 18th. That's right, Se7en will be performing his debut U.S. single 'Girls' featuring Lil Kim and perhaps another song. Thursday April 16, 2009 Korea   2 singers will be performing at Mnet Mcountdown ‘Heroes’ stage on the 16th, performing Rain’s ‘Rainism’ and Se7en’s ‘Passion’. Rain and Se7en are the top two male solo singer in Korea. They have been monopoly the music industry since 2003. Male idol groups such as DBSK, Big Bang etc keep coming and conquering the market, but there are not much of male solo rookies are able to do so. Recently, newcomers ChungRim and AJ has entered the market as a solo singer. Both of them debuted with the resemblance of Rain and Se7en, making them a rival in the music industry. Born in 1986, the 185cm ChungRim debuted with a powerful dance track ‘Step’. "SE7EN Rocks Atlanta! Part 1 of 3,"
20 Apr 2009 - 11:30 PM  What a crazy weekend in Atlanta! I passed out as soon as I got home from this sleepless weekend, but it was all worth it. We (allkpop) had an amazing weekend sight seeing and eating all of that delicious Southern comfort food with SE7EN and Red Queen Media. But the highlight of the entire weekend was at the Velvet Room, where SE7EN completely rocked the house! The Velvet Room was completely packed, with I believe around 2,000+ fans who made it out just for SE7EN - and I must say, SE7EN is such a pimp. As soon as he walked in, all of the ladies were screaming and going completely insane! I'd be such a manwhore if I was him... Anyway, for those of you who were following our twitter throughout the weekend, thanks! It was fun communicating with you all, while on the road and we hope you enjoyed the coverage. With that said, check out the photos from SE7EN's first ever Atlanta event at the VELVET ROOM! Stay tuned for part 2, where we will post about our entire day with SE7EN. Tuesday April 28, 2009 Korea  Much interests are raised with photos of singer Se7en, who recently released his American debut single ‘Girls’ in March, posing together with other famous American celebrities released online. Some photos of Se7en at the ‘US Weekly Hot Hollywood Party’ were uploaded on Se7en’s official webpage on the 23rd. The party took place on the 22nd in LA America, and Se7en was seen posing with R&B singer Estelle, model Kardashian etc. Famous blogger Perez Hilton and singer Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter singer-cum-actress Kelly Osbourne were also present at the party.
