I saw DEAR BOYS and the best ones Fujiwara and Aikawa the don't resemble very much Dong Fang Xiang and Yuan DaYing cause Aikawa is the best player,MVP,but very friendly,and childish(different from Xiao Xiang form the view of personality and from DaYing from the view of skills) and Fujiwara is very good,he is the captain,he's sobre,but he is not the MVP (unlike DFX and YDY)

Because daying's character is just like sakuragi. And there's a part when their team were up against xuanwu (a strong opponent) their coach was sick and had to go to the hospital, this scenario happened in slam dunk also.
even so, only some scenarios are the same, but then the whole drama is not really based on slam dunk.
