I'm not just talking about Naruto. even with Vampire Knight, it's one of the shows I like but people get soooo aggressive towards you if you like an anime they hate. despite the fact that they haven't watched it, they automatically hate it cos it's popular. and the popular shows are popular becos of one reason - they're good!

lol then please tell me one anime that maney people like i will tell you what sucks about it XD

People have different opinions when it's regarding anime - I still don't criticize people for liking another anime.

Some people actually go out of their way to criticize an anime that they've never watched just becos it's liked by a lot of people. Like some people have never even WATCHED Naruto yet they go around calling people narutards, just becos it's so popular?

ps. I'm not a big Naruto fan, but I don't critisize it.

its actually simple some people don’t like to go with the flow of the crowds so to look like a individual that does not like what most people like they will make fun of those things ( like anime ) does this answer your question? ( and most times the person making fun of that show or anime when they actually like it the show but they would never say so )

lol how many topics have been created similar than these? criticizing doesnt mean to hate ... its about telling the good points and bad points of a work...people criticize to correct others work and to improve them way better than before..

just think of it the world is balance...if there are good there are evils...same as this if there are Lovers there are Also Haters!!haha

Actually; I don't think its about the anime at all(though some obvious exceptions, notably the one that has a ninja in an orange jumpsuit). Rather its about the people watching said anime. Imagine, if all those narutards* didn't exist in the first place, would you still not like the anime? Maybe.

My personal opinion is that most animes should only run 24 - 51 episodes. Shorter for certain ones and longer for others, there is A LOT you can accomplish in a 51qp anime that you cannot in a 24ep one. This is also why so many continue onto a different season, You haven't seen a season two for Eureka 7 have you? Yet you see season after season of Shakugan no Shana, which is at what.. 3rd season now(see, even I've lost track)?

Of course there are anime that are butched simply because they're popular. Code Gease being the prime example, they cut the last two episodes and made it more open ended for a season two. Bleach is another that, while I still like, think that its becoming far too repetitive and would actually like them to move on with the story rather than having Ichigo run around and save every fucking damsel in distress while getting Gohan-like power ups.**

Rosie: Its popular because over the years some anime(bleach / naruto / inuyasha / one piece) have come to have almost cult-like followings, even now. And simply because of it they attract new viewers and generate more money, thus butchering it all the more.

*Note: People that watch Naruto =/= Narutard, idiots that watch naruto and scream and cream themselves when talking about it = narutard.
**Remember kids: In anime, screaming makes you stronger.

they only become popular because its new
probably some people watched it, and later on they became to dislike it,then to those who don't watch
the series yet they already hate it...maybe some friend told them that "don't watch this and that"

Naruto= Filler fest and drawing crap out as long as possible and vampire knight just isn't that good (incest but its ok because they're vampires? wtf!)

Also popular because its good?

Programs like Big Brother (and all its clones), X-factor (and all its clones) and Strictly come danceing/ Dancing on Ice beg to differ

These only seem to get worshiped because of something called the lowest common denominator, put fans of these programs in front of any program that requires the slightest bit of thought to understand (or even just a proper storyline) and its all "whats that?", "whys he doing that?"

In my experience things don't get popular because of quality but because of being of a leave-your-brain-at-home type or in the case of stuff like vampire knight "omg hot vampires *fangirl squeal*"

hmm Code Geass isn't an anime that u can watch without an aktiv brain i think and it's very popular too isn't it?

Well people have made good points but some idiots just say they hate stuff because they don't want to conform and they want to be different ... seriously get a fucking life you're confroming by not conforming it gets annoying if you like an anime you like it if not you don't it's as easy as that and I agree with tabibito7
