I can see a melancholy ending with a death bed (and well lived) Natsume surrounded by youkai and people who have cared for him, honouring his promise to Madara and giving him the almost entirely depleted book of friends.
Though if you ponder his grandmothers death at such a young age, which we're currently inclined to think could be foul play by jealous exorcists, rivals or misadventure against a youkai she couldn't match... It's all too probable that Natsume would share her fate, especially considering additional encounters against Matoba. But I really like the idea of him living a long life, honouring his promise and saying good bye to the people and youkai that have cared for him... It seems to be the kind of ending that would mirror the many stories of love and loss that he has been caught up in. |

I do believe that Natsume should be more concerned with the other exorcists..especially Matoba. |
