I would say acceleration/decceleration. It is most fun to you know just whiz away. Safety is too reliant of human factor. A car may have I safety rating but if I am stupid enough to slam it head first - say in to a lamp post on a funny angle at like 150 mph, I do think it will matter much whether I come out in 1 or 10 pieces. In most cars safety features are too easily compromised by the human factor. Although it is nice to have a car with high safety rating for a peace of mind.

Handling followed by power. getting the right suspension to handle the way you want when you drive isnt always easy. it can be changed by adding or removing power, the type and wear of the tires, and by the road condition. getting an FR to stick like glue through a corner isnt always easy. so i think handling is most important

Practicality, What's the point of purchasing a car that doesn't do what it's made for. Imagine purchasing a V12 car if all you want is a car to drive to work. It's like purchasing a drift car and not drifting in it.

People do it all the time. They buy Ferraris, Paganis, and Lamborghinis just to drive it from A to B or a garage queen. Some people just don't get it. Why buy a truck if you're going to lower it to the ground?

There are people who buy it to use it like it was meant to, then there are people who buy it because it is:
1. Cool
2. Fast
or
3. Expensive

In other words, they buy a car to show it off in an attempt to increase their social standing?

For some, yeah they'll use the car as their status symbol. We're not talking about rap stars and celebs.
If you've ever been to a car meet where 100k cars show up...you can see they're not cocky or stuck up as most ppl think they are. They're just average joes who have a passion for fine things.

If you make that much money...why bother commuting in a beater everyday?

Most definitely, safety. I say that because humans only have one chance to live life and cars can be replaced.
