I really respect my elders...When I see old people I feel something special toward them...Kids sometimes are assholes (saying it from experience) but I love babies!

No younger people are not treated the same. Should they be? No, i dont think so. But, I do think they should be respected ALOT more. For example, if you just get a new step dad and he and your mom want you to 'respect' him, you'd probally do that. But, when you continuasly give him respect, and he doesnt it express that back to you, what do you do? Well, I stop respecting him, only beacuse I no longer think he deserves my respect.

I agree with kankkokujin and mrobin (I had an ass "step dad" who was more like a an annoying lil brother that I had to respect and got absolutely none in return)

If old ppl/adults want to be treated with respect they should learn how to respect others you can't teach kids "do unto other what you want done to you" and not follow through with it your self...

so no I really truly honestly don't think we are treated the same...just b/c some one is older doesnt mean they deserve more respect

I think that at least in europe there is a trend that younger people are held in higher esteem than the elderly. I guess could be something to do with the capitalist atmosphere, where if your not making money you dont have much else to offer, that the west kinda leans towards. Once you hit retirement your just a burden to society. I think its sad, the elderly deserve a lot more respect than they get, at least this is from my experience. I think in asian cultures respecting your elders is a large part of society.

But it kinda goes the other way too, people cant seem to understand that just because someones a teenager doesnt mean they cant take other people into consideration or have read books other than harry potter.

I respect my elders, but it seems as if kids these days don't. I also think that kids should be given more credit on life experience. Adults have a tendency to think that teenagers don't understand things or that the world is eff up, but trust me, they do. It also seems as if teenagers are rather immature and rebellious these days, as to be expected. I don't have children these are all assumption from what I have seen.

I think it has a lot to do with how kids are brought up these days.
I have been brought up to respect my elders... so I do.
Like how my parents respect their elders, and then we follow their examples.

^ What your race has to do with how you were brought up?

i always respect people who are older than me. although respect for elders is severely lacking these day. people just assume they can stick them in some care home and let them wait til death.

Different cultures has different importance on different values.

Ever watch those period Chinese kung-fu movies/shows? Ever notice that the strongest fighters are always the old guys? Yea.

yeah, elders are cool, they are pretty interesting since they know so much after 70+ years of life :P

yeah I don't really like kids too much..usually those from 6-10 so annoying... other than that, it's all good.

I respect my elders. Though there are bright and gifted children out there with a supposed older mental age, they always carry a hint of immaturity no matter how they try to hide it. Adults play around as well, but they don't stoop to the level of children. at least, not the more educated ones.
compare "BWAHAHAHA n00bn00bN0000B!!!11!!!111oneONEoNe!!11! [goes off to argue the hell out of the noob to make himself 'look better']" with a witty remark + shun.

but even with that said, I'm scared of growing up.

Hum. This is an important topic.

First, I'd not that it varies with culture. In korea for example one must be respectful to ones elder. They kind of defer to someone older. Kind of silly really.

Second, sure old people get the shaft often. In order for the young to prosper, the old tend to have to give up some and help the young out.

Wish I had more useful things to say on the topic.
