Once you have the name of a Visual Novel you want to play (you can look for some in the video section of the CR Series, or go to http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/The_Wall to look some recommended ones. Once you have the name, you can go to google, and search it up in this format: <Name of Game> Hongfire. And a Hongfire link will probably be there for you to download off of.

Hongfire is a website that has a LOT of Visual Novel download torrents. I get like, 90% of my games from there.

Really?? Can I download PSP visual novels there?

If anyone's pretty new to visual novels they should first try some doujin games first; a.k.a. games that are free for download without any strings attached. http://visual-novels.net/vn/ is a great place to visit for visual novel information, they have a page for reviews and separate web database (links all on the left side).

http://www.insani.org/projects.html Probably has the most translated doujin visual novels, including what is probably one of the most highly-recommended and famous: "Narcissu".

For visual novels that have been translated into English (non-doujin), try searching up "Hirameki". They've gone bankrupt but they had some pretty good games that are still floating around here and there.

Hmm... Hope that was helpful to someone. P.S. I'm a vista user so I know that most visual novels work without too many problems, you just have to know a few tricks here and there.

Hm, this is dumb, but I recommend not playing stuff that's considered "godly" when you haven't played many visual novels yet, otherwise your expectations might become too high when you play other stuff.

Visual Key's visual novel releases are actually on top if you wanna go for tearjerker stories. 4 of their VNs made it to top 10 tearjerker video games (Clannad, Kanon, Air, Little Busters!). And this is just from a recent survey.

Also try Flyable Heart when it is released as it is pretty good for VN starters.

I have many questions about these...

1) Can you play VN in the computer?
2) What are the requirements?
3) Is it safe?
4) How do you get VN games?

1) Yes.
2) Depends on the game, I guess. Usually you don't need all that much to run a game, unless it's an RPG one.
3) Safe? As in download safe? Depends on the site. Hongfire is a good one though - I've never gotten a virus off of there.
4) See above.

Well can you help me with something? I'm having problems installing a VN called Wanko to Kuraou, do u think I need to re-download it?

im have the same trouble with Wanko to Kuraou -.- i thought it was only me

If I finished downloading one game from Hongfire, can I play it already or should I do something before playing it? How do I download, I mean, is it "save" or "open"?

In what format is it? If it's iso, then you'll need to mount it with a program like Daemon Tools or something like that before you can play.

Here's the full DS list in alphabetical order: http://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=plat-nds. And here's the list of PSP visual novels: http://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=plat-psp

Keep in mind that there's just a few English options for either system. Some options with the "English" flag only have translated versions on another system. Also, some translated games will only work with flash carts or modded systems. A few more options are available for Apple iOS devices.

thanks for the fuwanowel suggestion, you should post a visual novel thread in the main forum - this old section is pretty much hidden away from the rest of the site so you could just link back to it:
