Doubt they'll get anything from it, but the concept is scary. If it were real then imagine how easy it would be to abuse that kind of power.

Then again, would they risk 4 million dollars if there wasn't some kind of real evidence suggesting that there was at least a slight chance? It really is scary...and very cool. The mind is an amazing thing, more complicated than anyone could have ever predicted.

Four-million isn't much as far as research goes.

It's more than they'd invest in a claim that flying monkeys were going to attack. Four million is enough money to show that they’re actually considering it a possibility, which they wouldn’t do without a vast amount of evidence. I’m not saying that it’s a likely thing, but it’s something that even the military cannot completely deny.

It's less than an average public school budget.

4 million dollars...that's enough to money pay 500 lazy summer interns working at APG.

A story of a friend's grand father, working at APG.
He works at APG in research & development, making 60k a year.
The gov't pays him $50,000 to retire.
He also retains 80% of his pension if he retires.
He retires, takes the pension and 50k, and comes back working as a private contractor, because
the gov't mandates a minimum level of workers for private contractors. (so the private company hires him to be a head count)
The gov't hires the private contractor, and now he makes 80k a year doing absolutely nothing.

Meh. They wouldn't get my thoughts anyway >> But other then that they should probably use it on something else more reasonable. I mean yeah mind-reading would be tight for security but is it seriously possible for a gift of psychic powers to be enabled in a human body that didn't have it to begin with? Kind of hard if i think about it.

Still, they're probably doing it because they don't want someone ELSE doing it before them. Its kind of like the Atom Bomb, America never thought about using it, they just needed to race to HAVE one before Germany was defeated. They just used it on Japan because they thought 'Well we spent like the entire car industry on this thing...'.

No offense to anyone, but this does save millions and millions of lives, Japanese and American alike so thats kind of why. Sure, someone could easily have stolen the A-Bomb from the US Base at Tinian as well though.

Well, the gov't is known for wasting money. 4 million can also be the result of pork barrel spending:
private contractors bribing lobbyists, someone's little pet project, or to pacify a group of persistent researchers petitioning for money. But yeh - if it shows any promise, then they'll probably increase the funding significantly.

As for the flying monkeys - the US army did try to try to create bombs filled with bats strapped with incendiaries during WW2...and it was working out fairly well till the bats burned down the training facility. The military is probably crazy enough to try anything.

I doubt it'll work. But it'll be incredibly scary if it's possible.
