i would say anime is WAY better! because in the manga's story line is too short and i hate the ending in the manga.

Yeah, I don't really read manga, but since Eureka 7 was such a epic anime, I decided to try it. The manga was ok, too short though, didn't like the ending. Anime was WAY better, in my opinion.

IMHO, the anime surpassed the manga by far. Don't get me wrong, the manga was good too, but it just didn't feel like Eureka, it felt like a bonus story. The anime was amazing, I loved it.

This is the first series where I'd say that the anime is better then the manga. I liked both but the manga if taken by itself really doesn't have the same level of development\attachment to characters you get with the anime. And I have to agree, I prefer the anime ending to the manga ending (also a first). Also, I probably would have never really known who 1/2 the characters were in the manga if I hadn't watched the anime before. A lot of the more or less side characters that you get to see quite a bit of in the anime, barely show up or never really make a big impact in the manga.

Was the anime based off the manga? Or vice versa?

I'm a little disappointed with the manga iteration. It left a rather empty feeling inside me. I'd agree with everyone for the most part, it was WAY too short. Most of the side-characters were either underdeveloped or underused. However, the anime was absolutely amazing. I have re-watched the series numerous times and it still ceases to amaze me. I'm not surprised in the least that the manga didn't live up to it's anime counterpart. It's almost like the writer didn't try and make anything special out of the story, which left a bland aftertaste. Like everyone else, I wasn't too fond of the ending. Despite all this crap I'm pouring all over the manga, I actually ended up liking the first four volumes. It focused more on Renton and Eureka's relationship and put a couple new spins on the story, which wasn't so bad.

I believe the manga was based off of the anime, meaning the anime came first.

I don't think the manga was written by the same person/people as the anime was. the storytelling just felt a bit off. Everything was rushed in the manga, as well. Still, it had its moments. It takes a couple of the "what-if"s in the anime story and explores them, such as, "What would happen if Renton, Eureka, and Anemone actually got to know each other a little bit?" Kind of weak, but still worth looking at.

The manga was more...real. The anime was dragged out cause most anime fit into a "1 episode per week for a year " plan. The manga is where the creator had more freedom and put the story down as real as he could. Personally I think both were great in their own different aspects. The anime for the connection of a family, great bgm, and g-pg13 grade animation. And the manga for the more brute straight forwardness, bloody gore, and the impact (c'mon who expect Hollad to lose his arm). All in all both stories were very touching and got straight to the main theme. LOVE!!!! [(Love shall save the Universe!!!) DearS]
