You know, I totally agree with the fact that the quality and various other aspects of JDramas are amazingly good. KDramas are actually too SERIOUS for me. Like, someone dies, or someone has a terrible sickness or someone's business totally collapsed, etc. It's SO boring. And yes, TWDramas are immature-ish, but the silly, pathetic girl in me likes to watch them occasionally (Hated Meteor Garden, but I liked Prince Turns to Frog).

when you divide the best catogory into section such as best:
1) visual (as in camera angle, colour, etc)
2) Story flow
3) Character settings
4) Theme songs
5) Acting

I think not one country will be able to win all sections. And there is always that issue where all countries both have good and bad dramas.

To my knowledge some of korean drama has a high standard of all these aspects but some dramas just really do suck and follow the same old unrealistic storyline. But thats not what I am here to talk about so back to which country makes better dramas.

Just judging from the good dramas produced in each country (that I have seen)...

1) Visual is won by Korea -there were many dramas that impressed me with just the visual effects (eg. 'love to kill', 'goong' and 'I'm sorry I love you' every scene of these dramas were high quality that could be put up in a art gallery).

2) Storyflow and storyline is won by Japanese. Although there are times when I think each episodes are repetitive the individual drama itself has good background story settings and is unique (e.g. 'seigi no mikata', 'kurosagi')

3) Character settings again is done best by Japan. I personally give more credit for those dramas that expressed character feelings/personality indirectly (rather than saying it out). Japan has shown this with practically all the dramas I have seen. However korea has been good with it too (in some dramas) but I guess japanese did have more high quality drama with good character build up. (best korean drama with character setting was 'I'm sorry I love you', Japanese would be 'kurosagi').

4) Theme songs will have to go to all the countries. Korea, Japan and Taiwanese are all so good with choosing songs!!

5) Acting section is a hard one to choose the best country. but if I only consider the best dramas I would say Korea did a fine job in acting but if you have to count all that stuid dramas as well I think Japan is better. For instance, Taewangsashingi was a really really good example of superb acting but then there are those like 'goongS'...... like...... wat the hell!!!

I do think TW dramas are fun to watch but to judge from a 'quality' point of view I think it's a fight between korea and japan.

Some of the funniest and most touching dramas I've watched come from Japan! So Japan's NO 1 for me!

Korean dramas are alright but they have lots of those sappy love stories.....but DAMN!! Their variety shows are the BEST!!

Taiwanese dramas are all the same to me....kinda lame, except for meteor garden!

i like jdramas when it comes to romance, the romance varies and they're usually one that I like. But i hate the silly romance..
I dont think kdramas in romance is that good. its kind of....not serious and very immature. Coffee prince was a good example. They like each other but you can never see the parts where you want to cry, only parts where you go "aw how cute" but then the moments kind of over. its nothing super lovey

I can never start to watch a Taiwanese drama and finish it up until the very end because its way too unrealistic, cheesy, and the sound of their voices irritates me.
